Event Description

This show is on mothering, nurturing, and choices a mother has to make. Carolyn was blessed with a son with autism but had many obstacles to endure before coming to her only decision to have to institutional her son which in the end turned out the best for him and her family. At one point Carolyn had been pushed to the brink of wanting and trying to drive her car off a mountain with her two children in it from desperation in need of help with her situation with her son with autism. Fortunately the care didn't start that night and all the help she reached out for started coming back towards her the next day. As an author, her work has been published by major publishers including Charles Scribner and Son’s Publisher/Simon & Schuster. Her latest work is “A Special Kind or Normal: A mother’s journey through autism to destiny” which was written for parents, professionals and para-professionals who work with, or advocate for children. She fosters and lives by the mantra, When you walk with purpose, you will collide with your destiny. She holds a Master of Art’s degree in Psychology, with an Academic Certificate in Life Transition’s Coaching. Prior to becoming active as a speaker, Carolyn worked in politics for 12 years at the pleasure of governors. She served on the Arizona Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, as well as the Council on Family, Youth, and Children. President Ronald Reagan included Carolyn’s work in his library while she served as an advocate for people with disabilities with then Governor Richard Thornburgh, who later became U.S. Attorney General. http://carolynbetts.com/
