Given all that God has done in our lives, it is worthy of our heartfelt praise. It is the Lord God who wakes us up every morning and rocks us to sleep each night. God keeps us safe as we slumber and sleep, protecting us from the unseen dangers that surround us day and night. The evidence of God’s love, care, and protection is worthy of our praises to Him.

Psalm 68:4-5 KJV encourages us to praise God by saying, Sing unto God, sing praises to His name: extol Him that rideth upon the heavens by His name Jah and rejoice before Him. 5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation.

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Today’s message is an encouragement to love everyone, even our enemies, because, as stated in our scripture verses, we are to love our enemies. We are to do good to them that hate you and me; in doing so, we are heaping coals of fire on their heads.

Loving our enemies and doing good to them, our reward will be greater than retaliating with hate. Loving our enemies shows the righteousness of God in our lives as God is love and loves all humanity, but He is a just God who punishes sin and evil. Hate is a form of sin that the one true judge-God will punish.

Allow me to explore what kind of love our scripture text references; it is the kind of love concerned for their, our enemy’s well-being and souls. Being concerned about our enemy’s soul emulates God, as His perfect desire is that all be saved and spend eternity with Him.

Loving our enemy does not mean we, as Christians, will stand by and allow evildoers to continue wreaking havoc on our society. What must we do then? We are to take the necessary action to curtail or stop the wickedness that these evildoers are causing. We take these actions for the safety of ourselves and others in our communities.

There are laws that all must abide by (God’s moral laws and society’s laws), and when those laws are broken, then we must act, but in love.

More importantly, this verse describes the relationship between God and His people. A relationship with God is an everlasting relationship resulting from an unwavering trust and faith in God regardless of the circumstance or situation.

This verse also demonstrates the acknowledgment of the sovereignty of God as He is humanity’s guide, as He illuminates our way. Psalm 119:105 supports this fact by saying, thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. God so loves us that He does not want His people walking in darkness.

This verse also tells us of God’s love by stating that He is the source of our joy. There is no joy like the joy that God provides. It is an unspeakable joy that the world cannot give nor understand. God’s joy is not material wealth but a deep, complete sense of knowing that we are in the presence of Almighty God. Lastly, God promises His eternal pleasures that last forever.

Getting back into my frequent inspirational writings while reflecting on the sinful conditions of our world, I went to Luke 6: 27-37 KJV, which speaks to the law of love.

Verse 27 tells us that we are to love our enemies, not with an emotional love, but with the love of God, which incorporates kindness, compassion, and peace. We know that love overcame hate through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, so we, as believers in Christ, are to emulate His love for all humanity.

Another point to loving our enemy does not mean that we as Christians are to stand idly by and watch and allow evil to bring harm to innocent people. Still, to the contrary, we are to confront evil wherever and whenever it occurs. We are to follow Jesus’ model by proclaiming the truth as truth wins all the time.

Our background verses ask profound questions: what profit is there in doing good to those who love us? The gain is in glorifying God by loving those who do not love us. At one point, we all were enemies of God, but thank God for Jesus and His sin atonement; we, as Christians, now have a loving relationship with God.

One final point on living our enemy is that we do good without expecting any good in return from our enemy but look to God for His reward, which is greater than any reward man can give.

Loving our enemy, we pray, asking God to change their hearts, remove the hatred, and replace it with love.

Love covers a multitude of sins; this was proven on the cross at Calvary.

For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Today’s message is designed to encourage all as we live in troublesome times when it appears God has lost control of His creation. Allow me to reaffirm to all that no God is still in control and always be in control.

We as believers have a bright future to look forward to that day when we will live in His physical presence, where all troubles will have ceased, and there will be everlasting joy, praise, peace, and love. God will have wiped away all the tears, pain, heartache, and suffering we now experience; those days are ending. Therefore, be encouraged, remain God-focused, and Christ-centered.

Always trust, have faith in God, and take Him at His word when He says, be of good courage, for I am with you. Persevere unto the end so that we will live in the presence of God.
