My advice to getting more success is to keep showing up, and bite the bullet to learn skills sets you don't know yet.

Thanks for sharing this Deanna. Book Reviews are a powerful marketing tool for authors. We specialize in book reviews also, however, more for the Christian author and book. There is a lot of time that goes into reading a book and writing a honest and professional review. What a honor it is to review a authors book.

Here's one that hardly anyone seems to have tried. How many people see your car every week? 100s? 1000s? Why not use your car as a mobile ad for your book? I created two "posters" (8.5"x11"), printed them on high gloss ink-jet paper, and taped them to the back passenger windows of my car. I have no way of knowing if any sales are the result of the posters but, since they've been on my car for 3 years now, I do know 1000s of people have seen them. Of course, I have two advantages. (1) I'm a professional graphics designer and (2) my novel ties in with the current interest in the 2012 phenomenon. So not only are my posters specifically designed to be eye-catching (they're designed like movie posters) but just having the tag line, "2012 is coming...Or is it?", prominently positioned at the top, draws looks of curiosity from just about everyone who sees them.
But if your book doesn't happen to be tied into any particular current social/cultural phenomenon doesn't mean you can't draw attention with a captivating tag line. Whether your book is romance, paranormal, sci-fi, or whatever, there are literally millions of people out there who are fans of the genre that best fits your book. Create a tag line that will grab the attention of those who are fans of your particular genre. Keep it short as possible and make sure it has some sort of energy behind it, something that will make the reader want to know more – maybe something cryptic, or shocking, or controversial, or humorous. Have your book title and a website clearly visible. Don't worry about your name. If you're not Stephen King, Dan Brown, Stephanie Meyer or J. K. Rowling, nobody cares. They'll know your name soon enough if they buy your book. Like I said, I don't know how many sales have resulted from these posters but marketing/promotion is also about EXPOSURE...EXPOSURE...EXPOSURE. The more exposure you have, the greater the odds of getting your book (or your brand) to gradually seep into the public consciousness. These posters will get exposure every time your car is in the grocery store parking lot; when it's at a stop light; every time it's next to a bus with a dozen people gazing out the window; when you're stuck in traffic at rush hour on the freeway; when you're at the gas station. Pretty good exposure, day after day after day! :-)
I know of a number of authors who have created various car signs - card door signs, license plate holders, bumper stickers, car wraps, and more. Some work, some don't. But, if you can get it cheap, it's certainly worth a try if you live in a big city.

Sadly, all of the covers on your other authors page need work. They are not up to bookstore or Internet standards for great covers.
On your home page, some of your covers for your books are great. Others still need some work. You should spend a little time to get all of your book covers up to the standards of your best covers.
