I'm a beginner, and wondering if Lightning Source has a feature in any of their packages whereby they use an author's web address (named after the book title, as "thedoorway.com") to feed into their sales and distribution packages directly.  I'm hoping that that's the case.  Thank you.  Marty

Is it possible you could share how much in dollars your business efforts paid off. When I myself imagin how your business side of marketing has burst upon the scene, my sensibilities equally explode and I start thinking of money rolling in in huge amounts. On the really big book deals I've seen the $500,000 figure and then there's the $200 one. Because of my interest in markaeting, I just can't help asking such questions. Thanks, Richard

Ann, the main character in Mixed Messages, the first novel in my Malone mystery series, is of Irish descent. On St. Patrick's Day, I attended a festival at the Irish Heritage Center in Cincinnati (where my book takes place).

I had a great time and met a lot of nice people. I gave each of those people a business card - white background with Kelly green print - that listed the information for my book release. I got some great feedback and I'm pretty sure I sold a few books. And, to my delight, the IHC has expressed interest in doing "something" to promote my novel.

I hope you've followed up on your contact with the Irish Heritage Center. Remember: If you want action, you have to do the follow up.

Thanks for the reminder. The director of the IHC was in Ireland the whole month of May. I need to contact her.

Something else I've done to promote Mixed Messages - I contacted Janeen Coyle, a DJ on our local Oldies radio station who hosts a monthly book club. She features books by "big name" authors but she also occasionally invites a local author to bring some of their books to sell. I'll be doing that this coming Wednesday. As a bonus, she's been announcing the meeting all month long, mentioning my name, my book and even the fact that it's available on Amazon!
