The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

I really enjoy creating videos to help market my books or myself for that matter. I'm wondering if these are effective or is it just another rabbit trail?

I've heard different takes on this. So many of them are very good, but do they stimulate sales? Right now, I'm leaning toward the time isn't worth the questionable worth. But since you enjoy them, It certainly can't hurt.
Hi Paidra,

As Susan alreayd said - it depends greatly on how you use them, and what kind of ROI (including time) you want from them.

I have a whole sathe of them on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIPmq3X-Voo

They are not specifically about writing but address the wider issues of interest and concern in digital marketing for creative products. The approach is a little more shot gun - i.e. I want it to sell my writing, but this way i get to contact a far wider audience.

drop me a line if you have any questions!
Hey Paidra,

It depends on how your marketing strategy supports video and what kind of ROI your expecting from it.

I post videos to youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIPmq3X-Voo

It's quick and easy to make them and they work in much the same way as a blog does - but only if you have the time or inclination to get them seen. Otherwise video can be a bit of a black hole for time and money.

Also, you need to be careful how you make them - if you're just making ads (ie straight up stuff about your book or yourself), then your response rates will not be high.

Does that help? or just make it as clear as mud?

:D
