Authors Working Together to Sell More Books

"Your life changes when you meet people." - Sterling Valentine

I want to encourage the authors and publishers on this Book Marketing Network to work together to help each other to sell more books. That's the main reason I created this network in the first place.

There are so many ways that you can help each other. For example, I wrote an article on 30 Ways to Help a Book Author You Love - http://www.bookmarket.com/loveawriter.htm. Most of those ways apply not only to your friends but also to authors helping each other.

In addition, you can do joint ventures, Amazon Bestseller Campaigns, blog tours, and more.

Please use this forum right here to list your requests for partners as well as your responses or offers to help other authors.

You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish if you work together rather than alone.

For example, I'd love to see a fiction writers co-op promotion where each novelist promotes the other members in the co-op on their blog or website or social network. Tweet about each other. Like each others' Facebook page. Do joint blog tours.

Poets can do the same thing. So can business book authors. Spiritual authors. Christian authors. Cookbook authors. Etc.

networking with other authors - especially in your genre - is a great way to get the word out. A lot of authors are happy to feature you on their blogs and such. There are also a lot of paid promotion sites that send your book ad out to email lists but these are really the most effective if you have a free or lower price promotion going out.You could try a blog tour (if you haven't already). I've had lukewarm results from that myself but to be fair I have toured mostly to sites I've been featured on previously, so I wasn't reaching too many new audiences. You can hire someone to run a blog tour for you, but be careful who you go through. I've had two; one did okay but half of the posts never showed up, and the other flaked and never set it up. She did refund my money but since I'd been announcing the tour it left me only a week to pull one together (ahh!) Then of course there are book review sites you can submit to...and if you like to blog you can go from that angle. The key is to find something you enjoy/can at least stand and stick with it. I know authors who have had great success with twitter, but the truth is I hate twitter so I try t briefly then disappear form it again - hence I have had no luck with it. Some authors have super success blogging, while others hate blogging and so almost never do it and so have no success form it. A lot of people will try to tell you what you *have* to do. The truth is you don't *have* to so any one thing, you just have to pic at least one and go for it with gusto ;)

Thanks for your reply. I am involved in a pretty good network of writers here where I live, also on-line (I joined FB for that purpose also LinkedIn. I don't use Twitter unless it's to post a published article or news about my book). Someone has just offered to do a blog interview with me which should be up in a week or so and I'll do the same for her. I don't mind exchanging these blog interviews as long as I have the time. I've got lists of writers groups, writer's festivals etc and besides media will be sending promo info out to them. Also shall check out those on-line reviewers.

Sounds like you've got it pretty sussed then ;)

Hi Jolene, I just queried a well published writer friend and she said her publicity was done thru her publisher and actually mine has done quite a bit for me, mainly on-line. She also suggested many of the things I am already doing so I guess I'm on the right track here.

Thanks for your input.

heh-heh, now that I am on my laptop I see all the auto-corrects from my phone. Thanks a lot Android, LOL!

This is a great tip, thank you for this.

I did more promo on-line today and booked another reading with a mini workshop at a writer's group in town. And Friday I have a meeting with the head librarian from our main branch public library to talk about possible readings. You just have to keep at it. I've been doing a few hours promo on-line almost every day. Also will be talking to someone next week about the possibility of getting another publicist who will promote me back East.

Hello all,

I am interested in doing some cross-promotion of one or several authors who would like to do the same. I don't think they'd would have to be necessarily writing the same type of books (I write thrillers novels). I think it would be interesting to encourage readers to explore different genres as well through our respective Facebook, Twitter or other social networks pages.

If anyone is interested in doing so, please let me know. More information about my book can be found at these locations: htp://facebook.com/inhisnamebook ,   http://bit.ly/1yCTl2a , http://bit.ly/1w13WxW or http://amzn.to/1yhxVYa . Thanks and good luck to all.

Be happy to! I offer author interviews and character interviews on my blog - http://joleenenaylor.wordpress.com if you'd be interested or I can also post excerpts if that's more your thing ;)

It has to be combined power for author and publisher. To come up one goal. To provide quality books, novels and etc to readers.

Once again working with an indie author so they can sell more books :-)
