I'd like to start a new forum where people can talk about what's working for you right now in marketing your book.

I think this will help other authors to prioritize their activities if they can find out what's working for other people. This would be especially valuable to new authors.

I've share the hottest tool that I'm using right now. And that's Twitter. As you will note on the main page of this Book Marketing Network website, both my http://www.bookmarket.com website and this network have been rising in Alexa ranks (and visits) because of my use of Twitter.

I would also add that Twitter is a great way to connect with your readers. Let them know where your book signings are and what you are working on. Most readers love that (I know I do).

Everyone loves Twitter. I signed up for it and with writing my sequel, I'm behind in looking up sites and building my profile. I did set up a blog last week http://albertasequeira.com. I'll slowly get there. My website www.albertasequeira.com is doing well with hits.

Maybe in a few weeks, I'll try leaning more about Twitter .

Have you used the Google Adwords Keyword tool to find out which words related to your books subject matter people are searching on? This can be a great way of discovering what language (& jargon) to use in your advertising / blogging etc.

You need to perform searches on as many relevant words as you can think of, downloading each one to a spreadsheet. Sort by global search volume (descending order) then see what your public want. I have recently uploaded a 6 part video series on how to do this for ebooks, but it works for anything.

Just don't get too carried away with the results - instead look at the relative strength of each word, and take the words that are searched the most into serious consideration. The first of my video series is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxQwpr5TT9c

I have only recently figured out FB to a tea but have no clue about Tweet other than imputting your status. How boring right? I ate a french fry today. I mean really. Anyway, I would love to really learn what Tweating is all about. I hear about people within my writer's group using it but still don't understand it! Thanks for posting it. I will try and print this out so I can better understand it too.

Sales of ebooks has been my biggest surprise and is working for me. Ebook distribution sites should be the next wave in marketing.

To what do you attribute your e-book sales? Is there something you've done that the rest of us could learn from?
Regarding e book sales- I think it all has to do with getting new people to your website and then having excellent content on your website and a really good sales letter. Marketing has steps and even if you have a great product, it won't sell unless you first build empathy and then focus on the benefits. I have a free 7 step marketing template you can all download that explains this a bit more.
You'd have to have a third eye to know, but since the ebook that is selling 3 to 1 more than the others has a book trailer on YouTube - I would think that has something to do with it. Also, if one gets attention, the others get looked at. Then it's up to the power of your hook in the title and cover art. It's like a Venus flytrap. You have to look attractive.

We live in this funky, knee-jerk society that does the silliest things. The book that gets the most attention of mine is titled "A Dark and Stormy Knight." I named it that on a dare and am thankful it turned out that way. Everywhere I go with the books, it's the one that gets picked up first with a smile and an honest reaction of "What's this?" I love the story, but really, what about the other books. "Uh, that one, what's it about?" they say without a single indication of actual interest.

The art of book selling has to include a keen sense of first impression. I named one of the books Harmonics, because it has to do with a musical reaction to the psychic of some of the characters and is a thread in the story, but who knew, when you search for it on Amazon about 200 books come up before it about physics, optics, audio analysis theory, etc. You’d think the Sci-Fi genre would keep them separate, but no.

I have no idea why some titles work and other don’t that look like they would. The ebook phenomenon has certainly helped an unknown like me and it’s subtle, silent, and sells 24/7. So I consider it the writer’s secret weapon.
