I'd like to start a new forum where people can talk about what's working for you right now in marketing your book.

I think this will help other authors to prioritize their activities if they can find out what's working for other people. This would be especially valuable to new authors.

I've share the hottest tool that I'm using right now. And that's Twitter. As you will note on the main page of this Book Marketing Network website, both my http://www.bookmarket.com website and this network have been rising in Alexa ranks (and visits) because of my use of Twitter.

@ Joleene Umm, I think when I started the discussion 'Helping One another', I just went to 'Forums' and I think there is an option there to start a new one :-)

Its kinda like the blogs...I think-its been a while :-)

Anyone can start a forum. There's a link right under the five forum listings featured on the front page. It says Start a Discussion.

Now, I decide which discussions go on the front page. So if you start a new discussion and want to be featured on the front page, it has to be an active on-going discussion. Then I'd delete one of the five discussion topics currently featured on the front page.

I'm happy to support any discussion that takes off with activity.

By the way, you can see what other discussions have been attempted by clicking on the View All link at the bottom right of the five featured Forum listings.

Note: Forums are for on-going discussion topics. It seems like a lot of people have been using Start a Discussion where they should be writing a blog post (which automatically gets featured on the front page until five other new blog posts send your post off the front page).

Every blog post your write and post - and every discussion you start - are, of course, featured on your personal page as well, where they are available for anyone to see who visits your page.

I think a lot of sales between ebook and paperback depend on genre. I know if I sell a paperback/hard copy its a surprising moment, but then I write vampire fiction which many view as a quick, disposable read. Most people who buy the paperback have already read the ebook and just liked it enough that they wanted the hard copy. I imagine other genres fare much better :)

Yes, my two major genres sell opposite.  The children's books sell more from my hands as paperbacks and my adult novels sell more as ebooks.  I just sold 14 books two hours ago at a library event where I gave a talk - 9 were the dog books and 5 were the novels.

For sure, my adult books sell more as ebooks.  Silent Fear was published 3 weeks ago and it's in two top 100 best seller lists for hard-to-crack genres.  One of them last night was:

Do you have your book signed upoin Amazon for that match price deal they have for combining an ebook for less it's price when it's sold concurrently with its paperback? That is something you may want to check on.

I wondered whether the children's books did better hard copy than ebook. I read somewhere (need to find the article again) that literary fiction also does much better in paperback than in ebooks. 

Yep! I have my ebooks set for free if they buy the paperback ;) And anyone else who hasn't done that yet and has paperback and ebook both should look into it.

That's good....it's a useful marketing tool.  I have Silent Fear set to be 50% off if a customer buys the paperback. 

I was thinking about doing something like that. Offering something for free if they buy my eBook. Though I'm not sure what I could offer. I'll think of something :D

You already have something you can give for free. Start taking some of your short stories off your website and tack them onto your novella. Then you could put some kind of blurb on the cover like 'Now with bonus stories!' or 'Buy now and get free bonus stories!' :-)
