Congrats Blake. What's the book or ebook? I'm really green when it comes to writing. Any pointers? I signed up for the Muse Online Conference and excited about learning some tips and meeting others too.

Hi Blake,
It's never to late to go for your dreams. Go for it! I've been published in a few ezines & in Cold Coffee magazine. I'm working on a book for YA now that I hope will do well. Keep that attitude. It's very important to believe in yourself!

I have just published my first novel. I consider myself to be an aspiring author...on his way to the top...optimistic I am...got to get on top and stay on top and don't ever let anyone say you can't acheive your dreams. "You can be anything, do anything and dream anything you desire; the magic exist inside!" B.E. Schafer-aka Blake Schaefer

The Amy Grant song was called "Fairytale". The verse which inspried me was: two princes wage the battle for eternity but the victor has been known from the start. The title is: The Victor. I have a really cool looking webpage too: www.thevictorbook.com

Marlayne, can I ask what the Amy Grand song was? And what is the name of your book? Have you got any more in your head? books to write I mean....

I found it easier to write my story while at work too while I was chained to the reception switchboard and IBM (yes, you heard right) typewriter. It took me about a year to write my book, no outline, first with the inspiration for the idea which "jumped" into my head after listening to an Amy Grant song, then with the general idea of what I wanted to tell and the end I wanted. However, I did rewrite and rewrite and rewrite the story many times over (first on the typewriter then transferred it to personal computer in the mid-80s) for a good 25+ years. The story matured along with me; at first it was rather silly and then it grew into a more serious tale. The last final touches came during the publication process with the Lord finally giving me the replacement dialogue at the last minute for a crucial line in the climax that I had never been very happy with. It was such an obvious choice it made me wonder why I hadn't thought of it sooner. My book was released on April 14th, 2009 - almost 30 years later and so far everyone who has read it has really liked it which is very gratifying because prior to publication, I couldn't pay people to read it!

Thanks Landa! Even though I've been had stories published by ezines a couple of times I feel I'm still an aspiring author or a newbie. I feel this way since we, as authors, are constantly learning. I'm working on a couple of books right now. One is a PB & 1 is a teen-YA. I really hope that one of them sells!
