Hi, Marlayne. I got your book a couple of days ago and it looks really good. I can't wait to start it. I have added your name to the Network.

And for others out there, if you want to promote your book and you believe in John 3:16, ths is a great way to go about it. Take for example, if we have three hundred authors in the Network and 2/3's of them were willing to help you launch your book -- by sending a tweet or announcing on Facebook, and each of those 200 authors had a thousand contacts on Twitter or Facebook, or on an email list, that means you could easily reach over 200,000 people on a book launch on Amazon and/or Barnes & Noble, and these are not just people at random, they are targeted people known personally at some level, who have opted to follow or be friends with or receive their emails. That's an incredible amount of exposure.

And, during the launch, if you hit in the top places in subcategories on one of the two above sites, Amazon and Barnes & Noble will provide their own publicity. The strength is in numbers, and in the selflessnes of those in the Network helping each other. There is no cost involved and no gimmicks.

Also, if you are looking for a mainline publisher to publish your book, my hope is the Network with provide what they are looking for -- that you are capable of marketing and reaching large numbers of potential buyers.
I've read your plan and the principle has merit. The stumbling block is not the principle, but the people. The sad, but true commentary, is that Christians are the most polarized people group on the planet. For those who write Christian novels, poems, or other kinds of literature similiar to that, you should not experience the divisive problem. A Roman Catholic or Protestant, a Baptist or Lutheran could very well enjoy the same Christian novel. For those of us who write theology, doctrine, and bibllical commentary, the polarization problem is paramount. I've written and published four books. One involves the relation of church to modernity. Another is a dictionary of theological words. One is a book outlining the fundamental doctrine that ought to unite the church and the latest release is a brief commentary on Hosea. The Baptist buy Charles Stanley, regardless of the content of his book. The Presbyterians buy R. C. Sproul. The charismatics buy ... and etc. It is difficult to get a book review on doctrinal books, because many of the readers clueless of the content. I'm familiar with many men who wrote books that never made a splash in their lifetime. It was long after they were gone that someone discovered the worth of the book. So my plan is to write probably ten more books if the Lord gives me health and a sound mind and the ones that have a relevant message will one day be discovered.
Martin, just another comment.

We need our theologians and great thinkers, so don't lose heart. In the Christian arena, it's sin that divides, not man. So keep writing and praying. God will give you direction.
This Network is not that specific. Lots of Christian authors write books that have nothing to do with religion. John 3:16 is very broad -- and very clear. Beyond that, I am not concerned about theology. It will be incumbent upon a member to check out a book they might be asked to support in a launch. That would be worked out between the author seeking help and those on the Network who are willing to help. There are no book reviews involved here, though it could be complementary.

This is also strictly for book launches, a 24-hour span of time on Amazon or Barnes & Noble, to raise rankings in subcategories -- hopefully to best-seller status.

The issues you mention above do not apply to the purpose of the Network. By having three hundred to four hundred members, it allows for a wide range of members to support a wide range of topics -- fiction, nonfiction, children's books, fantasy, romance, et cetera. Some of the members are not authors. You do not have to be an author to join. And I am sure most are not theologians.

What you mention above are issues of theology. A different animal altogether. I would not be qualified to set something up like that. review that type of book, or offer anything that would be helpful.

I do check out websites -- specifically I am looking for anything that would be counter to a Christian worldview -- pornography, horror, overly commercialized, or foul language on a website.

The idea is a "Body of Christian Authors" who want to help other Christians launch books. Part of it is to counter what I experienced also, when asked, "Do you have a thousand people on an email list?" With others supporting you, particularly if you had even 100 authors, you could easily reach 100,000 people on a launch. Therefore, you would have met the requirement of many mainline publishing companies who want "proof" that you can help market your own book.

If you are looking for more specific criteria as a theologian, for instance, a hot topic, can people lose their salvation -- and want that kind of specific requirement in the Network to make sure that theologically, everybody matches up with your own belief system, this is not for you.

A child can understand John 3:16, and that is all I am interested in. Only God knows what's in a person's heart, but if a person says they profess to believe in John 3:16, and their website shows nothing to the contrary, that is sufficient. Hope this helps to clarify the above concerns.
From the tone of your reply, did you take my comments negatively? They were not. In fact, I said, in principle, your idea is good. I will be glad to help if it is possible. My point was my kind of genre has a narrow niche relative to other types of religious literature. Even devotionals have a much wider span of interest. I believe that the worker is worthy of his wages and for that reason I look for opportunities to sell my books.
No, I didn't take your comments negatively. And you are welcome to join. I just need to know how you want your name listed, your website, and your city/state. There are already many different kinds of authors on the Network, we are up to 40, so by the time we do our first book launch with over 200, we might have every type of Christian author represented. Every book launch will be specific to each author, so I think you will have some that will be interested in your genre. At any rate, you haven't lost anything because there is no cost and you have a lot to gain from possible exposure.

We all want to sell more books, and ultimately, we want to glorify God in the process. My hope is we can accomplish this in much the same way as the Gospel is spread—through word of mouth among Christian authors. Many of you have written books about your faith, your love for Jesus, and how God has worked in your life through hardship, divorce, parenting and many other obstacles. He gave you the ability, desire, and passion to write. Truly, the hardest part is getting your book into the hands of those who would want to read it. I hope through the John 3:16 Network, we can work toward accomplishing that.

The John 3:16 Marketing Network serves several purposes:

1. To provide a Body of Christian authors to encourage and share the experience of launching a new book (or re-launch an already published book).
2. To help authors sell more books when they launch their book on Amazon and/or Barnes and Noble.
3. By having a target date for a book launch, more books will be sold within a 24-hour period, thus raising the author’s rankings in categories and subcategories. Amazon and Barnes & Noble promote their highest-ranked books (the top one hundred), which increases book exposure for the author.
4. Authors help in book launches by announcing the new book on social networking sites and email lists.
5. Authors can also help by offering free e-gifts during the 24-hour launch period, encouraging potential buyers to buy during the book launch, enabling the buyer to receive more value for his purchase.
6. Because there is no cost to join or participate, the Network can complement any marketing plan an author already has in place.
7. All Christian authors are welcome to join – self-published, Print on Demand, or traditionally published.

I have highlighted a few points here and hope you will be interested in learning more and signing up. The link to join and familiarize yourself with the way it works can be found at:

http://www.lorilynroberts.com/john_3_16_marketing_network.html

The three requirements to join are:
1. You must profess to believe in John 3:16.
2. You read, at the very least, the third article on the webpage, Part 3, “The Nuts and Bolts.”
3. You have a website or blog that validates your Christian testimony.

After you join, I will list your name on the author webpage at:

http://www.lorilynroberts.com/john_3_16_marketing_network_authors.html

We need at least a couple of hundred author members before we do a book launch using the Network. Marketing requires wide exposure, and that is best accomplished with many authors being involved. Plus, not every author will want to be involved in every book launch. Once we have sufficient numbers, we will set up a Yahoo Users Group and Facebook page. I hope you will catch my vision for Christian authors helping each other to promote books on Amazon and/or Barnes & Noble.
