New Release: Times of Turmoil: Christian Thriller

In this prequel to Times of Trouble and Times of Trial, we follow how the Evans family gained their riches and eventually their power to influence events in the United States. We see important events that the Evans family gets themselves involved in: such as the return of the Israelites to Israel, the assassination of President Kennedy, the terrorism of 9/11, and eventually events that lead to gun control and other types of government tyranny in the United States.

The novel also follows the Atwood family, starting with the Great-Grandfather of Brian, Charles, as he fights in World War Two and ends up helping liberate Buchenwald shortly near the end of the war. Charles returns to the States and gets married to the love of his life, Betty. Eventually, the family ends up in Delaney, Nebraska, where we watch Aaron, the father of Brian, join the Army to fight the Taliban in Afghanistan after 9/11. Later on, we get to see how Brian and Lynda finally get together and get married.

Respectfully dedicating his work to our forefathers, author Don Joiner, has given brief histories of the churches listed each by county, but also gives insight into the foundation of the Christian religion and Georgia's participation in matters such as the signing of The Declaration of Independence. 

The book also includes a list of the denominations in Georgia before the Civil War ended in 1865.  With excerpts on the historical markers in the state of Georgia, the early Christian footprints in Georgia, the various religious denominations in Georgia and The Great Awakening, one will find this book filled with a plethora of early American history.  This is truly a remarkable read filled with extensive research into such matters of history.

Being a retired school superintendent, the author began as a history teacher.  Since then he has been a school principal, director of elementary school education, assistant superintendent and retired as an independent owner of a real estate appraisal firm.

His knowledge and love for history shine throughout the pages as he enlightens readers on the many sacrifices our fathers made in settling the colonies.  This book is a wonderful and interesting read that is dedicated to authenticity and accuracy. 

Developed by the author through the discovery of the fact that there was not a single publication devoted to, ". . . describing and portraying, the earliest still standing churches in Georgia."  With a highly informative and historical viewpoint, the author gives readers a rich history of not only the state of Georgia, but also a wonderfully well-written, historically correct perspective that intertwines the rich history of Christianity, the Civil War and the foundation of Christianity.

Life is an Amazing Song by John Raikkonen is a triumphant life memoir of the author's journey as a young boy brought up in war-torn Finland during the Finnish-Russian War and his eventual experience being brought to America to find a better life. 

His story is unique, breathtaking, heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.  The author utilizes descriptive imagery and scenes that give each account life, bringing the reader right into his world.  This is a must-read for those that enjoy true-life stories involving history, drama, while intertwining the workings of Almighty God.  Truly an epic adventure that you will not soon forget!

Although heartbreaking and disturbing at times, the author has added humor into his portrayal of himself as a young boy on many occasions as he gives an account of his rambunctious cousin, Rake, who leads him into finding good "smoke." This unforgettable story of him showing young John how to smoke a shoestring at the tender age of four; well, you will laugh right along with him. 

His journey is spent between years with his grandparents in Finland, then to Sweden, and then opportunity knocked.  He was offered a chance to go to America – and he took it with his family's blessings.  You will learn of his trip on the SS United States and experience first-hand what it was like to be an immigrant landing in New York. 

This is book is a delightful read, one that will keep you interested.  The author keeps the reader's attention by his thoughtful penning of every scene in detail and you will know by the end of the book that every good gift that comes is from God.  Truly an enchanting and delightful journey that gives account of the tragedies and triumphs encountered through war and through a life well-lived.  One might think that this tale should be a movie in the making Lifes Amazing Song.
