The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

Hello everyone! I've helped several clients get their books out in the open and on the marketplace, but when it comes to my own, I have no idea where to start! I know that sounds odd - but my clients usually have resources in place that I cannot utilize.

I have had a few people broadcast it to their marketing lists, but so far, no luck. Does anyone have any ideas for a semi-newbie at this? I'm self-published at this point, although the manuscript is under review with Deseret Book.

hI there, I was just wondering have you ever heard of Xlibris POD?
I have not. Do you have more info? I suppose I could just google it :) Thank you!
Hi Tamara!

First, congratulations on the book! That's the hard part!

There are so many things you can do, blogging about your book's topic, interviews on Internet radio shows, guest blogging on book review sites, written interviews for book review sites, virtual book tours, book signings (in-person obviously) . . . and many other things!

You might was to start with a virtual book tour. The research to identify the blogs and websites that are the best fit does take time but the benefits are very rewarding! The best thing about a virtual book tour is that all the information is perpetual - it stays out there forever telling people about your book.

Good luck. Let me know if you would like assistance on your book promotion. I'm happy to help.

WOW! Thanks for the info! I'm doing an interview on Blog talk radio in a few days, and speaking to a group of Women Entrepreneurs on Saturday. I also host a BTR show on Fridays- but listenership is still growing.

The virtual book tour is something I'd never heard of, and might want to give a try. I may contact you for more assistance :) Thank you!
What are the type of resources to which your clients have access?
oh you know, publishers, copy writers, graphic artists...
1. Use free PR sites (www.biblioscribe.com)
2. Considering your book topic - visit mommyjobs.com and see if you can join the forum there.
3. Have you sent your book to noted local personalities that discuss your topic (Phoenix, Tucson radio or TV personalities)? Sometimes it is flattering to ask for a review - for the cost of one of your books and postage...
3. You habe a blog on your website - write on that at least weekly as well as this one at Ning or start another site at Ning, facebook, etc. you can even have the same topics on those other sites as well
4. I have found that local libraries are always willing to accomodate authors with a great topic as part of a "discussion night" Their press releases and public calendars can provide some publicity as well.

These are a few just off the top of my head...
