Hi all,

I was just informed of another free site for promoting your books. It's bookhitch.com.

Hi:

I just joined this group. I have been busy promoting my new book: 50 Frogs, 5 Babes and a Bulldog on the Internet and could certainly use a few tips on free publicity.

I have met some really nice people who have offered me good tips. I really appreciate that.

My website is: www.50frogs5babesandabulldog.com for additional information.

Hiya fellow scribes,

My name is Rai Aren, co-author of a mystery/speculative sci-fi novel about ancient Egypt, entitled Secret of the Sands. I am very interested in hearing what you all are doing to promote your books. Free is good! These are some of the free options I have done, which I think have helped my book's sales. I hope it helps!

MySpace profile, this has been a ton of work, but I really enjoy it & I know that it for sure has resulted in a boost to our sales:

Facebook, this I just started, so we will see if it helps:

YouTube video trailer for Secret of the Sands, the reason this is free is because a friend of mine, Tommy Taylor, author of The Second Virgin Birth, helped me do it (he used "Windows Movie Maker"):

Authors Den, you can pay for fancier memberships, but I just have the free option:

Hello everyone. I've been with BMN for a few days but this is my first time with this group. I wish the greatest success to everyone.

My tip for free bookmarketing is to go with local libraries at first. They're usually happy to have a local author and will help promote you and your book. They also bring great cookies and coffee!

“Whether your book is about pregnancy, porn or plastic surgery mistakes” your writing doesn’t end when your book’s done, says Isobella Jade, author of Almost 5’4”. Next, one must get the attention of a publisher, perhaps as Jade did, using free online tools.
Jade was a homeless model. She wrote her memoir in an Apple Store. She wrote on Fridays when she had time off her job.
First she self-published it through Amazon.com's BookSurge program. Next she secured and dropped an agent, chronicling that adventure in an irreverent tone that Dooce would love.
Finally, a British publisher, The Friday Project, partnered with HarperCollins to publish her book in 2009. How did it happen? Here’s Jade’s advice on "how to pitch your book when you're broke."
Here’s three bits of advice, summarized from Jade and from mediabistro’s Ron who’s been following her journey to a signed book deal.
1. Have a blog.

2. Make guest appearances on other blogs, along with vlogs and podcasts.
(This convinces agents and publishers that you're capable of being an active participant in the marketing of your book.)

3. Your goal in doing #1 and #2 “isn't to tell people you have a book out, but to let them know you're ‘an interesting person who has something to say.’”
