(RUTHERFORD, NJ) -- William Carlos Williams Poetry Cooperative of
Southern Bergen County presents "Second Wednesdays" poetry on Wednesday,
October 11, 2006 7-9 p.m. with featured poets Daniel P. Quinn and Moira
Bailis plus works by William Carlos Williams & Open Readings from the
Floor at the Rutherford Public Library, 150 Park Avenue, Rutherford, NJ.
Admission is free to the public.
Featured Poet Daniel P. Quinn is a writer, producer, director and the
author of Organized Labor: Poems on Life, Death & Love (AuthorHouse,
2004). He has been a guest producer/director at the Bickford Theatre in
Morristown, NJ since 2004 and was a production assistant at the Teatro
alla Scala in Milan Italy as a guest of Claudio Abbado. He was also a
guest of the French Cultural Services and helped establish a link between
Paterson, NJ and Lyons, France, which culminated in five Arts Festivals in
Paterson and corresponding library exhibitions. Daniel P. Quinn has
published numerous letters, essays, and articles including We Care
Newsletter Essay on the impact of AIDS in the arts, the history of Italian
opera in the 20th century, Cecilia Bartolli, and early opera. He has
received several prestigious awards including the Irish Institute Award
(1992) for his production of John Maguire's 1877 comedy Honesty is the
Best Policy at the Irish Arts Center and Snug Harbor, NYC and the Short
Play Festival Award (1987) for his production of Paul Parente's play Two
& Twenty, which was then published by Samuel French, Inc.
Featured poet Moira Bailis was born in Ireland and educated in Ireland
and England and worked as a freelance journalist in Germany, Austria and
Italy in the post WWII. Her voice has been heard giving radio talks on
Irish literature on North-West German Radio. Moira Bailis is presently the
host of "Poetry Corner" a monthly program on Fairleigh Dickinson
University Radio in Teaneck, NJ. Her work has been published in Sensations
Magazine, The Journal of Irish Literature, Irish Voice, New Hibernia, New
Jersey Poetry Anthologies, and other publications in the United States,
Germany, and Ireland.
