Something About Me and My Book:
I always lived on the far north side of Chicago until 2004 when I moved to my country home in Wisconsin. For years I had been interested in the history of abused child laborors and children who rode the Orphan Trains, plus history in general.

Though I mostly read non-fiction, I wanted to write fiction. When I received my first issue of Civilization Magazine from the Library of Congress I ran across an article about abused child laborers. The stories were familiar and the pictures the same ... except for one. It was of a nine year old girl in a tattered, oil stained dress dwarfed by machinery. The moment I saw her sad face I knew she was my story.

Half way into "Wildflowers" I realized I could connect it to a second novel. Then I thought "Why not a trilogy?" So it was done.

My Orphan Train Trilogy; "Wildflowers," "Bridie's Daughter" and "Secrets" were published at the end on 2007. Since then, all book reviews rated my trilogy five stars and all three novels were among 5-10 Finalists in national/international contests.

Due to pressure from my readers wanting to know what happens next, I am writing "Paper Flowers," a sequel to the trilogy. I admit I did leave the trilogy open-ended crying for more. I'm enjoying this writing as I did the others.
