Calix Meus Inebrians

Desire is the chalice and passion, with its fleshly brewed potion, is the wine that makes us drunk as our thoughts become saturated with the sultry squeezed juice of grapes grown in the vineyard of want—the need to feel intensely what we perceive to be the essence of our existence—love.

We procreate via our bodies, which are wired to radiate pleasure throughout the pathways of sinew, muscle, and skin—sensitive nerve routes that wind and stretch to reach the marvel of the ultimate central processing unit, the brain. Passion avails itself of these hidden conduits to ignite the wonder of all emotions—love.

And while we bring the chalice to our lips to imbibe the passion of our hearts, words become the substance of the wine—words that string out into lines and stanzas—words that weave into allusions and illusions—words that form a means to transport us to the elusive place where we’re willing to indulge in the ultimate experience—love.

Finally, as Calix Meus Inebrians (my chalice inebriates me) the following poems are rendered as a celebration of the fusion of the flesh; may it serve as a way to the melding of souls—in love.
