The thought behind the book cover was based solely on the main character Sandra Greenwood, the Medium. She's from Jersey, flamboyant, loves heels, especially red ones, and has to look the part wherever she goes. The cover is taken from a scene in the book where she finally gets to hold an audience with heiress Beverley Gardenia; and as she's being led down a long dark corridor of the mansion to the old lady's bedroom, she's asked to wait outside, when she's finally allowed to enter the room... she already knows all is not what it seems. Stepping into the void room signifies the danger, the grey design contrasting with the red heels shows a strong color set against the unknown.
