Something About Me and My Book:
My fascination with the colonial frontier and the Shawnee Indians is an early and abiding one. My English, Scot-Irish ancestors had interactions with this tribe, including family members taken captive. Research into my early American forebears resulted in the writing of my colonial frontier trilogy. THROUGH THE FIRE, the lead story, finaled in the 2008 Golden Heart®Contest in the historical romance category and is coming to the Wild Rose Press May 22nd, 2009.

Intrigued with all things Celtic, much of my writing features the Scot-Irish who settled the valley and spread into the mountains and the Carolinas. DAUGHTER OF THE WIND, a light paranormal romance novel with a bear walking Shawnee warrior, grew out of this absorption and is out at the Wild Rose Press May 1st, 2009.

My passion with early America also extends to the high drama of the Revolution and ancestors who fought and loved on both sides of that sweeping conflict. ENEMY OF THE KING, my Revolutionary War romance novel, is coming to the Wild Rose Press May 8th, 2009.

Moreover, I am ever intrigued by ghost stories, and Virginia has more tales than any other state. I find myself asking if the folk who’ve gone before us are truly gone, or do some still have unfinished business in this realm? And what of the young lovers whose time was tragically cut short, do they somehow find a way? Love conquers all, so I answer ‘yes.’

SOMEWHERE MY LOVE, a murder mystery, ghost story romance with Hamlet parallels is at the Wild Rose Press in digital download & print & as a Kindle book at Amazon, Sony E-reader store, Fictionwise, Barnes&Noble online. Local booksellers can order my titles in.
Somewhere My Love won the 2008 Preditors&Editors Readers Poll for Best Romance Novel and was reviewed April 2009 at Publisher's Weekly.

"As I read Somewhere My Love, I recalled the feelings I experienced the first time I read Daphne DuMaurier’s Rebecca long ago. Using deliciously eerie elements similar to that gothic romance, Beth Trissel has captured the haunting dangers, thrilling suspense and innocent passions that evoke the same tingly anticipation and heartfelt romance I so enjoyed then, and still do now."
~ Joysann, Publisher's Weekly.

The Feel and Flavor of Old Homes And Historical Romance ENEMY OF THE KING

Mysterious old homes, shrouded mountains and valleys hidden between misty ridges; the lure of Eastern Woodland Indians and Scots-Irish settlers in colonial American…this is what I know, what I love. But in writing Enemy of the King, I spread beyond my Virginia home base and journeyed into the Carolinas at the height of the Revolution. Enemy of the King is my version of The Patriot with flavors of Daphne Dumaurier’s Rebecca.

Into the Garden at Pleasant Grove With Meriwether and Jeremiah (Excerpt from ENEMY OF THE KING)

1780 South Carolina

Stone lions the size of wolfhounds sat on either side of the imposing front door as if to devour unwanted guests. Perhaps Jeremiah enjoyed their significance. He seldom entertained and seemed happier seated astride a horse than in the company of most ladies and gentlemen. He turned the marble knob and led Meriwether out onto the crescent-shaped balcony. He leaned momentarily on the iron railing. “Feel that… Continue
