Something About Me and My Book:
I am a writer of contemporary fiction. My work includes numerous genres, but especially sci-fi, adventure and humour. I like to look at the world, what people are doing and talking about and incorporate real life in my work. Add to this a big dose of fantasy and some humour, and entertainment is born.

I approach my work with a unique perspective. Writing is one form of art and it's important to let artistic freedom take its own path. I like to develop stories and scenarios in my own way. That means ignoring commercial trends, of course, but I believe a great book is one that comes from the writer's heart, not from commercial motivation or from simply following corporate trends. It is much more important to observe people and events in the real world. It is sometimes said that 'truth is stranger than fiction' and this is true at times. The things one can find in the news are so weird on occasion that no self-respecting writer would dare invent such a story and write it down. This makes the real world a great place to look for source material for writing fiction. Such material does not just include modern day events but also things from human history. In 'The Mars Conspiracy' I borrowed quite a number of historically attested events and traditions that would seem bizarre to the modern reader. The events taking place in the stone age are carefully researched and, to the best of my knowledge, accurate.

In 'The End of America' there are several stories that borrow from reality, such as modern science about global warming, Greek mythology and famous historical persons such as Archimedes and Eratosthenes.

The Temple is a work of fiction that incorporates many of the nasty and, indeed, criminal things that have been done in the name of religion.

Hello Brian, I am quite new to this site, although my name now appears way way down.... I have not really had time to look at it much but now have a little time to see how this site can help me (and others).   I was interested in your profile about your book particularly when you say "truth is stanger than fiction"   and that no self respecting writer would dare invent such a story.  My autobiography is one such - who would really believe it?  But I did dare write it down and I did get it published in the UK and NZ.   "They" tried to stop it but could not.  Well, maybe it would be nice to be friends and share ideas?   You can check out my profile, even join my group on facebook My Brother My Enemy
