Profile Information

Something About Me and My Book:
I started the Disabilities Awareness Ministries in 2005 to provide support through resources for people who have absolutely no place to turn when their faith communint will not step up to the plate. It is still shocking how many are sitting in the back pews wondering when the hurt will go away.

Incest and mental illness are the two taboo subjects in the church. What do you do with the crying distraught person who refuses to speak. What about the person who has - yet again - attempted suicide. He knows God loves him but why the pain and such hurt.

One little girl who survived to womanhood has experience theses and overcome. The act of rape is only the begining of the story, it is the struggle to stay alive amid the censor and critic that lives within. The Song in the Silence, speaks of the agony of living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that resulted from an incestuous rape before reaching the age of thirteen, the highs and lows of Bipolar Disorder and a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder were also my crucible. Experiencing rape, madness and the disappearance of identity required more that human effort to comprehend. The beauty of this book is that it doesn't leave you petrified in doom and gloom. This gripping journey leads you through pages peppered with humor, moments of quietude and joyous release from the pain that has clutched your heart for so long.

"The Song in the Silence", is about God's loving compassion and practical guidance through to peace from the turmoil of our lives. He gives us Shalom even as He makes plans for giving us a hope and a future. Ancient biblical instruments of music are called in from our recollections to set the tone and purpose for each chapter.
The drama was played out in the circuit court of a tropical Isle on front page of the newspapers and staring condemning eyes. Ignominious recognition and questions about a childhood shame followed for over 30 years. Yahweh was there to give of His strength.
The struggle to assimilate was one of the hardest. Under the pretext that all was well, the biggest of all lies was struggling to stay alive.

The scenario of the crisis spoken of here is the experience of hurting boys and girls, men and women, especially those within the faith community. The Song in the Silence was born out of one persons experience but touches on the lives of countless others. This book speaks of hope, survival and a path to recovery.

So, what’s ailing me if my brain is being set right?

Years of therapy and psychopharmacology still leave me with debilitating symptoms that baffles me and is the bane of my conversations with professional about my health. The seemingly lack of concrete…

Sometimes its just tough to remember you are a survivor

On beautiful days like this I ask myself what shackles me to my bed, my home, my fridge, and then I reluctantly admit that recovery is an ongoing thing. Its hard to accept that because i expect so much more of myself that I am able to give. Lord, help me to do one thing that is productive.
