Something About Me and My Book:
Devil's Kitchen: Manny Aguilar, an Arizona homicide detective, investigates when a severed head is discovered in a county landfill and soon finds himself in the middle of a hellish conspriacy between a Mexican drug lord and an Arizona land developer.
Manny's inner life takes a turn as well when he begins receiving visitations from his deceased Yaqui grandmother.
He's lucky to have a redheaded, asskicking girlfriend, Reina, who is psychic, a wiccan practioner, and a paralegal.
She helps guide Manny through his personal underworld as the two of them team up with Johnny Oaks, a Cherokee PI who specializes in finding runaways, and Jeff Goldman, a ponytailed criminal defense attorney, whose cynical exterior belies his moral outrage at institutional corruption, his regard for Manny and Reina, and his eco-warrior leanings.
The four of them battle an organization capable of using both cops and criminals as assassins and kidnappers.
After a showdown at the Devil's Kitchen, in Arizona's remote Skeleton Canyon, they discover the key to the mystery, locked in the mind of a runaway teenager.

Devil's Kitchen set for May release.

Oak Tree Press did a great cover for Devil's Kitchen. They release the book on/about May 10th--days away.

Mystery writer Susan Cummins Miller called Devil's Kitchen "Tucson noir with a generous dollop of magical realism."  -Clark Lohr-

Your book sounds intriguing.  My book, EDEN'S SCARECROW, also involves the disposal of a body at an area landfill.  Funny thing is that the remains of recently murdered John Wheeler (the defense contractor) were found at the same landfill as my book.  Needless to say, my book has since acquired some legs with the real-life tragedy.

I was unable to locate your book on Amazon.

Hi Clark,
Thanks for the connection. The last conference I attended was the 2009 Killer Nashville. Just hasn't worked out for me to attend any this year, though the Big Chile does sound interesting. I'll have to check out the deadline for registering.
Let's keep in touch.
