I'm a retired nurse, living in a beautiful valley in South Devon U.K. I have three sons and two granddaughters. My career has been quite exciting and varied, taking me to many countries. Now I prefer to stay home, look after my lovely husband & care for his mum, fitting in making bears and marketing my books.
I love to write, read, sew and draw, as well as enjoying the outside. I live near Dartmoor, which is an amazingly inspiring place.
Our home and land sits in the heart of a proposed new town development soon to be built here in the Sherford Valley which means we will have to move on.
News of the new town development made me want to do something to remember the valley by, and stories of tiny wild bears living in the wood at the bottom of the garden sprang to mind. Thus, the 'Dinker Bears' were born and the 'Sherford's Lost Valley' series began.
I started making the bears as I wrote about them, and Bertrum; the first little chap I made, always sits with me when I write.
These tiny wild bears called Dinkers are fun, mischievous and have the ability to talk, if they choose to! In their struggle to leave the valley and find somewhere safe to go, they come out of hiding and enlist the help of a human child who helps them escape.
Gentle by todays standards, this four book series follows their antics, dangers and adventures as they travel across farmland, around a small town and out to the edge of the Moors where they meet further trouble before they finally find a new home.
Believable characters that children have grown to love, throwing themselves into the life of the Dinkers, even looking for them in their own gardens or when out playing!
Now in the early stages of development for an animated children's TV series based on the books.
