Something About Me and My Book:
Doctors, Lawyers, Warriors and Thieves written by Dennis E. Hayes is an autobiography about his formative years of growing up in the fifties and sixties in the most violent city in America during the Race riots. It depicts the events of his life that influenced him to enlist in the United States Marine Corps along with others to serve their country in a time of an unpopular war. It reflects the many paths of men who served in Vietnam with their aspirations of becoming Doctors and Lawyers who instead became Warriors and Thieves. Its pretense is to show what happens to men of war and how they did not adapt to societies treatment of them when they returned home. They thought they might be heroes when they returned home but suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorders that no one would recognized and that changed them forever.

Doctors, Lawyers, Warriors and Thieves

My first book is an effort to tell what made men volunteer to serve in Vietnam during an unpopular war and some of the events they experienced there. On returning home afterward they found that their ideas were not shared by everyone. At a time of antiwar sentiment and trying to adapt to a life they left behind they found they were not the same as when they left. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder overwhelmed them and caused many to seclude themselves from society, express violent tendencies,…
