Profile Information

Something About Me and My Book:
After graduating from the US Merchant Marine Academy, Doug Kane traveled to every continent in the world. Following his five years with the Merchant Marines, Doug was hired as a Process Control Engineer for the Nuclear Industry and was at Three Mile Island during the accident in 1979.

In 1987, Doug started his own system integration engineering company, which developed the technology of speech recognition.

In 2001, Doug purchased a horse farm and began breeding Icelandic Horses. He has since become heavily involved in the US Icelandic Horse Congress.

An avid participant in numerous Icelandic Horse events, Doug’s true passion is his horses, but he also enjoys writing and gourmet cooking.

Born in New York City, Doug now lives in Amherst, Ohio.

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Christy Wood attended college in Ohio and lived for several years in the Cleveland area. In 2000, Christy relocated back to her hometown of Salem, Oregon.

The child of two teachers and an avid traveler in a family full of published writers, Christy has had many adventures. One of her first jobs was working at Canyonview Horse Camp in Silverton, Oregon. As a freelance writer, Christy’s experience includes promotion, marketing, and advertising, as well as legal and medical technical writing. In addition, Christy’s writing credits include working on a celebrity cookbook and covering the Atlanta Olympics.

Christy has worked at a large law firm, as a court transcriptionist, and as a trainer for General Electric. She currently works for the Department of Transportation for the State of Oregon.

Christy’s passions include old houses, reading, traveling—particularly snorkeling in the Caribbean – and spending time with her three cats, Joe, Helen, and Lucy.

Amherst, OH --- Blue Ink Press announces the forthcoming release of Ariel’s Journey.

The first of eight books in the Ice Horse Adventure Series, Ariel’s Journey (Blue Ink Press, ISBN: 978-0-9817234-0-2, $8.95) is
the story of five teenage girls – Kim, Darcy, Emily, Laura, and Andrea – who put their everyday differences aside and set out on an overnight trail ride together in present-day Pennsylvania.

Riding Icelandic Horses – beautiful, fluffy, stocky creatures – the young riders will soon discover that these are no ordinary horses.

The Ice Horses hold hidden abilities, wisdom, and knowledge. Through the magic of these exquisite horses, the girls embark on an extraordinary journey and travel back in time 800 years to 1200 A.D. Iceland.

Now centuries in the past, these young women must fight to save the village of their ancestors. As they discover amazing strengths
both in the horses and in themselves, the girls must band together to challenge a ruthless enemy, rescue a young princess, and realize
their destinies.

Will the girls develop the bond of trust and friendship needed to fight the battle? Can the young princess be saved? Does true love
have the power to cross the distance of eight hundred years? As this miraculous journey unfolds, their very lives will depend on the
magic only the Ice Horses can provide – and the courage that lives in their hearts.

A mesmerizing story about triumph, spirit, and friendship, Ariel’s Journey is an enchanting tale that transcends, time, age, and place.
Beautifully written, and resplendent with vivid imagery, Ariel’s Journey is filled with action, adventure, charming characters, and the unmistakable magic of the Ice Horses. With its artful blend of fantasy and reality, Ariel’s Journey delivers a touching message of hope, perseverance, and love.

Doug Kane owns an Icelandic Horse farm in Ohio, and is actively involved in the US Icelandic Horse Congress. Christy Wood has
been a voracious reader and a freelance writer for many years. She lives in Oregon. Ariel’s Journey will be available wherever better
books are sold on November 1, 2008. For more information about the book, please visit www.icehorseadventures.com.
