Bio
I am Elizabeth Bennett and I was born and raised in South Carolina. I grew up and lived there until my mid 30's when I moved to Los Angeles for four years. Recently, I returned to South Carolina due to the bad economy and to keep an eye on my elderly mother.
I was bullied for 27 years and that is why I am so passionate about this cause. Believe me, I know the damage this can do to a person which is why I call this Peer Abuse.
I never married or had children. Now Mr. Right could still come along, who knows. I have always focused on my career instead. Even though I like children, I do not think I could be a good mother.
I am a mother in a sense to my cat Popcat. He is an orange and white tabby cat and is a tad overweight. We are trying to cut down on his food intake as food to him is like a pacifer is to a baby. This cat is so much like a child and is quirky. For example, he tries to climb into the washing machine and dryer. Also, will take about five pieces of Pounce treats and line them up in a row. He has a lot of personality and I love him to bits.
I use to play the piano and cello as a child. However, I never felt I was any good at them. I love music though and enjoy most any that is out there. Except for country; I have never liked that style of music. Old school stuff is good.
My sense of humor is good. I enjoy sarcasm a lot. As long as it is not hurtful its good. The MTV character Daria that was popular in the late 1990's was hysterical. Some may see her as a smart aleck but I liked her. She just made me laugh. My friends say I can be funny. I usually make them laugh.
I am a bear collector and have been since 1974 when I got my first bear. It belonged to a lady who taught school with my mother and she did not want it anymore so she gave it to me. Now, I have probably over 100 stuffed bears along with bear clothes, jewelry, rugs, posters, figurines, pictures and other odds and ends. I also collect keychains and everywhere I go to visit, I generally purchase one. Oh and the requisite tee shirt too!
Traveling is great. I have been to countries such as Canada, Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Israel and hope to visit more in my lifetime. I would love to go to Italy next. I love Italian food!
I never knew my paternal grandmother and that bothers me. I have been told we are very much alike.
I am a Christian but am tolerant of others beliefs and religions. I have friends from different backgrounds. They do not slam me for my beliefs nor do I slam them for theirs. We get along great that way. I am spiritual too. Plus, I love helping people. I cannot save the world but I can try to make it a better place.

I'd like to share an event I'm working on. April 5, 2011, my husand, Al, and I went to Boston, MA to meet with Steve Meunier, Senator John Kerry's Policy Advisor. We presented some clauses we hope to get added to the Patient Privacy Act and modify it for substance abusers.
Mr. Meunier is hoping to present it in Washington, D. C. We're hoping to appear in front of a committee making the decision. I'm sure this will be a long process, but if it passes, my husband and daughter's life will have meaning.
Thanks for following me on blogspot.
