'Perpetual Helix' of 90,400 words. In comparison to 'A Child Called It' by "Dave" Pelzer where he received horrific abuse just as I did and 'Angela's Ashes' by Frank McCourt where he describes how he too emigrated describing his childhood stories. It detailed his very early childhood in Brooklyn, New York, but focuses primarily on his life in Limerick, Ireland, just as I do with mine, focussing on my British upbringing but recapture my early childhood which was spent in Belgium, France and Italy. Frank McCourt also included his struggles with poverty and his father's alcoholism which is similar to my time but our struggles in the end was to accept a different life, living solely with my mother and our depression.
my memoir begins in 1978 with our emigration to England and how my father was arrested for child abuse, assault and sexual abuse. What unfolds was how we battled from his harassment to have him back, which led us all into major depressions, attempted suicide, absconding school, homelessness and how ultimately, the whole affair split our whole family up. As the story unfolds, it looks back to how my alcoholic father achieved fleeing from the police across Europe, how he attempted to build a paedophile ring, run from the grasp of the Marseillaise gangsters and how in Saint Tropez, we narrowly escaped our execution when we were held hostage by the Marseillaise gangsters. It ends with taking my fiancée across to Belgium to meet my paternal family, only to unravel more sinister truths about my dark past. Although, most knew of his committing sexual abuse, the family knew nothing else and still do not know, as everything was swept under the carpet.
