Something About Me and My Book:: My book is called Zone Mind, Zone Body and looks at the extraordinary phenomenon known as The Zone. Artists, writers and musicians know this as The Flow but it is the same thing.

I am a teacher of The Alexander Technique and during the last ten years of working with sports people of all abilities I found that few people really know how to ‘use’ their body well. This leads to poor habits that can cause injury, poor performance and loss of confidence and definitely prevents you from getting into The Zone.

My book looks at what may be happening when in The Zone but more importantly, how you can get in this amazing state at will. When you are in The Zone nothing else matters because you feel at one with yourself and your thoughts and movements just flow.

It’s a fascinating experience because it goes against our conventional view of what performing at our peak entails. In place of effort and hard work there is a freedom of movement, ease and no sense of effort at all.

I hope my book will open up a whole new debate in what constitutes good training and athletic development as I believe traditional methods do not promote ‘Zone moments’.
