Something About Me and My Book:
"Twelve Notables in Western North Carolina," Jack's new book of mini-biographies (400-pages/134-photos) of a dozen accomplished residents of this vital region, was published in May, 2012. Visit www.futurenowpublishing.com to view the cover and snapshots with quotes from the Notables. Testimonials from Katie Couric, Doc Watson, former Gov. Jim Hunt, Secretary-of-State Elaine Marshal, biographer Bruce Chadwick and others highlight the 12 subjects and the author. e-Mail prathergroup@aol.com or info@futurenowpublishing.com for more info.

Jack also founded the Young Writers Scholarship at Warren Wilson College, noted for its MFA and undergratuate writing programs-a link is on the FNP website.

My 2011 "Investigative Reporter" that features 2-thrillers-in-1-novel launched a series featuring Thomas ‘Tank’ Tooley, disabled NYC cop and volunteer firefighting hero of 9/ll now a freelance reporter for The Crime Journal.

In 'Tracking The Star Killer', Tank narrates his hunt for the taunting and elusive murderer of Hollywood starlets before they can burst into stardom. The intrepid reporter is aided by his colorful and dynamic team of beautiful Rachel ‘Rache’ Brinks, electronics genius Chan ‘Gizmo’ Lee, muscleman transporter Rod ‘Belch’ Belcher, and albino master-of-disguise Luke ‘Lucky’ Chance, guided by the expertise of veteran LAPD Homicide Detective Damian Cannon and alluring Danish criminal profiler Adela ‘Del’ Iversen. The mind-bending climax unfolds during a raging midnight thunderstorm on an Oceanside pier, where the identity of The Star Killer is finally revealed.

In 'Tracking The Avenger: Back to the Beginning', Tank’s childhood in The Bronx and career as a member of ‘New York’s finest’ are explored in depth. The narrative then examines the roots of Italian savant Domenico Patriani, who poisons abusive father Goro then kills gays in Turin and Rome for an entity only he sees through The Shroud of Turin eyes: Godsatan! Despite evolving into ‘The Avenger’, Domenico manages to become an ordained deacon for hated priest brother Marcello at Christ Church in Manhattan. The mind-numbing final confrontation occurs on 9/11in church, simultaneous to the terrorist attacks on the nearby World Trade Center.

Advance reviews: “The well-written Tank Tooley series will resonate with thriller readers,” E. M. Rickerson, co-author of The Five-Minute Linguist; “Prather managed to make the two stories both thrilling and cerebral, an intriguing combination,” advance reviewer Charles Rogers; and, “Future Now Publishing is proud to break ground with this dynamic double-book,” Editor Pamela Ludlam. She adds, “This exciting new novel is offered at the introductory price of $9.95, abd $5 for the e-book.”
