Something About Me and My Book:
The scores of naive, frightened, and awed young men arriving daily in Vietnam were branded "Cherries" by their peers. Thrust into an unpopular war, these new recruits had much to learn before being accepted and fully trusted by their brothers. The first few months in country served as an intense learning experience, where they saw, heard, and endured things never thought humanly possible.

This story follows an eighteen year-old "Cherry" serving his year in Vietnam. He and his fellow soldiers would experience more fear, sadness, and pain during their tours of duty than most men would endure in a lifetime. These boys are forced to become men virtually overnight, learning the ropes quickly to make life or death decisions, while depending upon one another to survive.

When reading Cherries, the author takes you along on his journey through war-torn Vietnam and actually makes you feel as if you are there with his platoon - you feel the fear, the awe, the drama, the bravery, the sorrow, and sometimes even the humor of young men in battle. You will see the main character transition from a scared young kid just out of high school into a savvy, skilled leader in the span of a year.

I have also created a blog site with articles and topics that are not published in the book. A picture slide show also parallels the book and allows the reader to see what I've written about. Please visit and comment. Thanks! / John

Debut of Audiobook - "Cherries - A Vietnam War Novel" Exceeds Authors Expectations

I am proud to announce that my audiobook version of “Cherries – A Vietnam War Novel” is now available on Audible.com, Amazon.Com and I-Tunes as an MP3 download. Even if you’ve already read “Cherries”, the audiobook version brings the story to life. The narrator has a dynamic and exciting voice – each character having his own distinctive voice and accent. I was truly captivated and mesmerized by the narration – the style and emotion make it seem like a new story all together. Judge for…
