We home schooled our daughter and one of the concerns from my attorney which he kept reminding me, was that she was missing some great social life. I am not at all convinced that the social life of the average student is all that wholesome. I retired from teaching and as part of the counseling team, I can tell you some of the problems we encountered had to do with socialization gone wrong. She entered college at an early age, about one year before normal and as soon as she set foot on campus, she was besieged by dating offers which she turned down until her senior year. Then she met the most wonderful boy, her age, but a year behind in school and when he asked her out, she said, "I will have to ask my dad!" Naturally, I was very happy that she asked me, but told her it was her decision. He too had led a sheltered life, and both are number on in their respective classes. They have been going together for over a year. The wedding date is scheduled for Oct. Now, this is an example of socialization gone right. I couldn't be happier in letting my child be a child as long as she wanted. You have a nice page and we need people who will write good things for our young.

Yes exactly. We should let Children dream a little longer. It makes a big difference later in life. We tend to want Children to be like everyone else. They need to have the right to find out who they may be. Michael

Hello Karen,

Thanks for your message. I wanted PurpleUmpkin to be a little different for the Children. They will find out about the rest of the world soon enough. Best always.

Michael
