Something About Me and My Book:
Earth's Ultimate Conflict ~ A Gray Guardians Series
By Kathy Porter

Winner of the 2010 National Best Book Award for Fiction: Fantasy/Sci-fi!

Winner of the 2010 National Indie Excellence Award in Science Fiction

As reviewed by New York Times best-selling author Ellen Tanner Marsh
What if the people who claimed to be the victims of alien abductions were suddenly proven to be telling the truth? And what if the aliens who were carrying out these covert operations suddenly made a public appearance, warning of impending doom and offering a safe haven away from the soon-to-implode planet Earth? But can these aliens, who have been “stealing” human DNA in order to help their own failing civilization, be trusted? And what choice, if any, does the human race actually have? This clever premise is at the heart of Earth's Ultimate Conflict, Kathy Porter’s intriguing novel that is part science fiction, part thriller and part thoughtful treatise on our future.
Whether or not the aliens can be trusted may be a minor matter in this thrill-a-moment science fiction tale. The greenhouse effect has seriously impacted life on Earth and human beings are falling victim to a life-threatening malady. Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control are stumped and must turn to long-ridiculed UFOlogists for help. More worryingly, alterations in the Earth’s crust are causing frequent earthquakes that will shortly compromise the structure of the planet itself.
When the elders of the planet Nuur arrive to warn the human race of their impending demise they bring the unsettling news that they can only save a chosen few. Oddly enough, their selection process seems to favor women of childbearing age and involves the relocation of these women to heavily guarded tent cities, which have been set up ostensibly to isolate and treat the people who have been falling ill.
Author Kathy Porter adds a dash of mystery to this highly charged mix when the aliens reveal that, although they have been visiting Earth for years, they are not the ones whose spaceships crashed in the desert years ago and are now located in the heavily guarded facility known to the public only as Area 51. Who this other race may have been and what they intend for the beleaguered planet Earth makes for a riveting read. Porter has created a diverse and interesting cast of characters, including (finally!) the first female U.S. president, and a courageous heroine who refuses to stand by and watch her civilization die. Science fiction fans will applaud the appearance of this bold new voice for the genre.

The above book review is for the original title Gray/Guardians, which is now with Woods N' Water Press, revised, and now titled "Earth's Ultimate Conflict ~ A Gray Guardians Series". "Earth's Ultimate Conflict is the first in a series of four stand-alone novels.

It has been a driving force in my life to get these books written and published. I am working on the second book now.

About Me:

Although I now live in California, my roots are from Endicott NY - birthplace of IBM and only one town over from Binghamton NY the birthplace of Rod Serling of Twilight Zone fame. So I had some very creative and innovative influences in my life.

One of my greatest influences was my father who first took me to the backyard to look through our first telescope and find the craters on the moon. We would stay up late and watch many of the old sci-fi movies together. This was the beginning of my science fiction addiction.

Recently I met and exchanged books with one of my favorite authors, Ray Bradbury. He kindly said to me "I will always hold your book [Earth's Ultimate Conflict] close to my heart."

Earth's Ultimate Conflict has been picked up by a film rights agent and is currently being reviewed by producers and directors.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! The blessings we ask for this season
Aren't the kind that come wrapped with a bow;
We're asking for gifts from the heart,
Ones we need and never outgrow.
May we see in these bright decorations
With their colors and lights all aglow,
The beauty and wonder of life
That God's world was created to show.
Let the peace and goodwill of this season
Be feelings that we can extend
Far into the following year
To our neighbors, our family, and friends.
Most of all, may we always remember
To open our hearts every day and share all the love and the joy
In a special and meaningful way.
