Something About Me and My Book:
I started writing Secure the Fort (And Remain Under God), A Military Mother's Message to America when my son joined the Army Reserves in 2005. Today, July 4th, 2007 is the official release date of this very special book that now includes over 35 contributing authors' stories of faith in the field, patriotic poetry, military themed devotions, and much more! (Xlibris Corp)
I have chaplains reviewing the book to use with their units. One chaplain is going to use portions of the book in his training of troops about to be deployed. Another wants to use it in the field when he returns to Afghanistan in January. Military base museum gift shops are anxious to carry copies to sell. Poems are being distributed to WWII veterans being transported to the Memorial in D.C. Devotions are being read at reunions of WWII veterans who served on the USS SARATOGA and the USS TENNESSEE. A devotion was read live on radio with talk show host Bob Calvert. This is just a few of the ways God is already using the material in this book.
My prayer is that Secure the Fort (And Remain Under God) will be a resource that draws the reader closer to God - and renews a sense of patriotism in all who venture into its pages.

New Book Release

Two years ago I wrote a poem called "GI JOES AND ARMY MEN" that described my feelings as a new military mother. I felt mixed emotions when putting my son on the plane for Fort Jackson, South Carolina. I felt proud of his decision/calling to serve his country! I also felt fear...

(You can find this poem posted on my website's Under God page at www.allgloryishis.com.)

I knew I could either fall apart and cry all the way through the next…

Hello from beautiful Montana:

My husband is retired military and our daughter is an officer in the Air Force National Guard.

I am a parent educator and would love to do some training for military families. I have one workshop that is especially important called: "Absent Parent, Left Behind Child."

Thanks for the words, Lucy. I'm prior military and currently work supporting the Navy's F-18 superhornet program. I'm fairly familiar with the ol' Red,White, and Blue!

Lucy, I spotted your note on Meghan's page and thought I'd ask you if you know about an online e-zine called Salute! It is an excellent resource for military writers. As is the Military Writers Society of America. You can subscribe to Salute! by sending a "Subscribe Salute!" message to katieseyes@aol.com. You can Google the MWSA. They gave my book of poetry with some references to my grandson who is Iraq and some WWII memories in it a silver award for excellence. They're very supportive.

Best,

What is this friend's book about, Eric? Sounds needed. Give me your friend's website address if they have one and I'll check it out. Feel free to share http://securethefort.blogspot.com with them as well. Thanks!
Lucy
