The finalists were announced for the Readers Views - 2009 Literary Awards. I was pleased and a little surprised that my book, Kelleys Island-The courageous, poignant & often quirky lives of island pioneers 1810-1861, was one of the three finalists in the History/Science catagory. This proves that if you do your homework and produce a quality book, it doesn't really matter whether it is self-published or published through conventional channels. You CAN produce a good book by self-publishing. The winners will be announced in mid-March.
