- My memoir, "The Road to Someplace Better: From the Segregated South to Harvard Business School and Beyond" was released by John Wiley & Sons, Jan. 25, 2010. It is the portrayal of my journey from a small farm in VA to Harvard Business School (where I became the first African American woman to receive a Harvard MBA) then into the business world as an entrepreneur. My journey took many twists and turns. The book interweaves hard-won lessons and life-affirming principles that will inspire people to dream big, act bold and never be afraid to find their own path.
