Something About Me and My Book:
I began my working career in advertising and continue to work in the adbiz.

The Women of Quiet House is the story of five sisters, intelligent, independent, women. Set in the mid 1970’s the story begins in 1941 when one of the five sisters is raped and a becomes pregnant. To protect their sister from ridicule and shame they all pretend to be pregnant. When Anita was born all they all took part in raising her.
After finishing medical school, and returning home to practice medicine the last of Anita’s aunts dies. After her death Anita decides to find out which one of them was her mother and why they kept it a secret?
Anita inherits Quiet House, its contents, money and five letters, one from each of her aunts. Hoping the letters will answer her questions she decides to read them while going through each of their rooms.
Unbeknownst to Anita her aunts had laid out the path she must follow to find answers. Along this path Anita discovers the remarkable lives they had lived.
After going through their rooms and reading their journals she still doesn’t know the identity of her mother.
Anita is given a letter from her mother, in it she learns of the rape.
At the end of the book we hear from the sisters one last time. They write the story of what happened to Anita’s mother and the man that had raped her. Worried his victim was going to make trouble for he pays a visit to Quiet House. When he learns his victim is pregnant he tells them he will take the child and put in a home.
After drinking the offered brandy his death is quick and painless.
