Something About Me and My Book:
Greetings,

I am Michael Phelps, the WRITER . . . NOT Michael Phelps, you know, that good-looking, young, talented Olympic Champion with all the Gold and beautiful women chasing him around the world. Oh, I guess I should mention, he has a few books out also.

I have two books on the market as of this date: THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE, based on the true story of the pursuit of a viscious gang of armed robbers and murderers in Indianapolis, Indiana. My close friend and one-time mentor, a Detective Sergeant in the Robbery & Homicide unit of the Indianapolis Police Department. A devoted husband and father, a dedicated police officer with 19 years of service, is brutally murdered two weeks before Christmas. His rookie partner, Detective Mike Walsh is devastated. In the aftermath, Walsh's seven year marriage ends and he turns to alcohol. Will he survive . . . can he pull himself together? COPS & ROBBERS, MAYHEM & MURDERS, this book has it all, in graphic detail while taking the reader inside the professional and private lives of dedicated Homicide Detectives.

DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE, Co-Authored with Ellie Janssen, the Iconic American Actor's first wife. The original book was published in December, 1994 in Hardcover, followed with Paperback Editions in 1995 & 1996, and sold over 1.2 Million copies. I have released the Fourth Edition-Updated book in Hardcover, at the original 1994 Publication price.

The second novel in the "Mike Walsh Detective Novels" series, THE JOCKEY'S JUSTICE is based on a true case I worked on as Chief Investigator for a prominent Miami, FL Law firm, specializing in criminal defense.
A winning horse racing jockey is savagely beaten, then shot three times, execution style. His widow's search for justice explodes eight years after his murder, when SHE and their Son-in-law are charged with the crime. Walsh and his assistant travel to Kentucky to find evidence to prove the firm's client's innocence, and keep them off Kentucky's Death Row. A riveting novel, taking readers into the world of The Sport of Kings; with underlying ties to the Chicao Mafia, another Jockey's unsolved murder, race fixing, political corruption, inept cops and a prosecutor with tunnel vision. THE JOCKEY'S JUSTICE will be released in December, 2009.

I am a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force-Military Police Combat Defense Forces (Viet Nam). I retired as Chief Investigator for a prominet Miami, FL Law firm. Based on the success of DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE, I have embarked on a new career, that of a WRITER. I created the "Mike Walsh Detective Novels" series. All of the novels will be based on actual crimes.
I am happily divorced (I hope my former wife is, I did not deserve her to begin with). I split my time between my home in Miami, Fl and New York City, with my faithful German Shepherd dog, Rico der Hunter III.

UPDATE: THE JOCKEY'S JUSTICE, the second in the "Mike Walsh Detective Novels" series is in the final stages and will be released soon.

In response to many, dedicated fans of the late DAVID JANSSEN, I am now working on "DAVID JANSSEN- CONFIDENTIAL Conversations with a Friend". This will be recollections of fifteen years of personal and telephonic conversations Dave shared with me. Thirty years (13 February 2010) after his premature death, and what would have been his 79th. Birthday (27 March), I am very pleased to see his legions of fans remain appreciative of his talent, his dedication to his craft of bringing so much in entertainment to millions around the world. He was truly a great actor, a great man, and a great friend.

Yes, they are. I knew this kid, he was terrific. And his boss-'patron.' A big fellow from Normandy. Good people with a lot of sense for humor. Do you know about the movie, something like--'Zazie (?) goes to school,' or, 'in the Metro.' Also, their great comedian Fernandel. A great mime. And many, many others, writers and actors. Marcel Camu (spelling ?).

You are right. I still recall an elderly Frenchman saying: "Amerique, oh la-la-a-a," gesturing with his hand in that special French way. Meaning something great, very special, rich. I was telling him about the US. "Ah, bah, mon vieux, c'est une grande difference, non? "But...I love my France. My country." Very patriotic they are. And good hearted--also bright, quick minded people too. Paris was a lot tougher though... My apologies for my spelling. But, it's great visiting other countries too, if one can afford it. Very interesting meeting other nationalities, learning their customs...

Pretty sad to hear that about France. US gave so many lives in that war, just Normandy!! Very, very sad. Yet, people of France are pro American, I think. Many, especially the younger generation. Paris used to be a pain, very stuck-up with their lingo. Jealousy, I guess. That's changed a lot by now...
Thanks,
Steven

Thank you, Michael. I looked over your BIO and, I must say, you're quite a fellow. Admirable. I can see your books are selling very well and, I can understand why. The titles and the content are great. I'd like to get one of your books too. Please tell me which one should be the first one. All of them appear very interesting. I wish my book/soon books would do half as well as yours do. I hope you like Crossroads. It was written to be as authentic in characters as possible. I used to live abroad, many years ago.
Best,
Steven
