Something About Me and My Book:
Imagination knows no bounds. I was always fascinated by people who wrote books. My mind has always been creative, but my thoughts would come very fast with no rhyme or reason. They were all over the place. I thought when a person wrote a book, the material ended up on the published page in the order it proceeded from their mind. I asked my Aunt (Toni Morrison) a long time ago, "how do you write a book?" She told me it begins with one thought, could be the middle, the end or it could be the beginning...and you build around that thought.

That was about 25 years ago. I never thought of writing a book until 3 years ago. Her words still echoed through my mind. Being interested in movies, I'd dabbled with the idea of becoming a screen writer.

Finally leaving on a well needed vacation to the Oregon Coast with my husband gave my mind the freedom it ached for and needed for what lay ahead. It just so happened the night before we left, I was listening to an interview with Tyler Perry. He spoke a little about his life before he was a successful playwright. Due to his job, he didn't have the opportunity to watch Oprah. Stopping home one day on his lunch break, he turned on the TV - caught Oprah saying, "Anything that comes to your mind, write it down, write down everything...write it ALL down." That night I decided to do just that on our trip...

Ridiculous characters and names came into my mind and I wrote them down. Not judging...just writing them all down. "River Whale" as we rode along the Columbia River towards the Astoria bridge. I laughed because it was so ridiculous! Around midnight, in our tent my thoughts woke me up as "Fiscal Pear" interrupted my slumber. My laughter woke Paul, my husband. That is how it started. The birth of "Fiscal Pear and Shimmer in the Call of River Whale". I didn't know it then but the hours I would be writing were between 1:00AM & 3:00AM...every day.

My family, including my Aunt didn't know what I was doing...I never told a soul except my husband of course. Every night for months I'd wake up with a thought and start to write...not knowing where it would take me or what would come to my mind, that was really exciting. I had to take a break to catch up on my sleep because I still had a job to go to. I stopped for about 2 weeks. It was time to go back and finished. I was scared of going over what I had wrote, because I didn't know I had it in me. I was just letting it flow.

Anyway, I self published and all the while visualized my book on the book shelves in major and independent book stores. This has come to pass. My books has also gotten great reviews and I will be going to Atlanta in May to do another signing at Borders. Oh...by the way this was after I was told, "they don't promote or stock P.O.D. books. I didn't care. I was going to do it anyway...someway.

I'm in the process of writing about all the steps I took and the mindset I had to see this manifest. It will be available as an E-book very soon!

Thoughts Manifest As Our Reality

What you think about, you bring about".

Thoughts are powerful things...one of the most powerful forces in the Universe! A person can change their life by changing their mind. Right now...take a moment. How are you feeling? Are you feeling a positive emotion? Are you feeling a negative emotion?

What were you thinking about just prior to that feeling?

If you were experiencing a positive emotion...keep thinking that thought...even increase the power of it by thinking of… Continue

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
The blessings we ask for this season
Aren't the kind that come wrapped with a bow;
We're asking for gifts from the heart,
Ones we need and never outgrow.
May we see in these bright decorations
With their colors and lights all aglow,
The beauty and wonder of life
That God's world was created to show.
Let the peace and goodwill of this season
Be feelings that we can extend
Far into the following year
To our neighbors, our family, and friends.
Most of all, may we always remember
To open our hearts every day and share all the love and the joy
In a special and meaningful way.
