Otherworld Publications is now open and accepting submissions for Commercial Fiction, Mystery, Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Visit the website for submission requirements.
What makes Otherworld Publications different? We are revolutionizing the publishing business. We are a publisher with the Author in mind. Our goal is to help Authors be successful. Let’s form the future together!
We have a team of authors, editors and graphic artists to help make your publishing dreams come true. Most of us are published authors and we identify with the trials and tribulations for the publishing industry. That's why we formed Otherworld Publications with the Author in mind.
If you are selected to publish with us, you, the Author, will retain the copyrights to your text. We will not try to take these rights away from you. Our rights include the exclusive rights to reproduce and/or publish or adapt and sell, and/or license third parties to publish or adapt and sell said Work in the English language and all other translations into any other languages, in the United States of America. These rights will revert to you when the book is to be considered “out-of print”. Be careful, some Publishers today are getting around this by never considering your book out-of-print if they are in digital format or POD (print on demand). If we deem your book to be out-of-print, those rights will revert to the author as well.
We do not offer cash advances. In lieu of this you will receive higher royalty rates and will start receiving checks much faster. Cash advances are just that, an advance, and have to be paid back out of your royalties.
Most publishers will take your marketing expenses and cover design costs out of your royalties. Will we? No! The only fees that we will adjust against your royalties are costs related to revisions after the book has been typeset and any costs we may incur for fees or royalties for use of copyrighted material you may use in your book only if you fail to take care of these yourself.
Sometimes huge reserves are assessed for when bookstores return the unsold books. In most cases, 20% or higher is reserved to cover the cost. We will only reserve 10% of your royalties to cover when a bookstore returns your book to us. That is 10% of the royalty, not 10% of the book value. For example, if you are due $2 in royalties for a copy, we’ll only reserve $0.20.
We also pay royalties per quarter, not twice a year. Otherworld Publications will also provide reporting on your royalties and the books we’ve sold for you. Royalties are paid when we are paid for the books. You will know how many we’ve sold and when we are paid for them. It’s your money. You have a right to know.
You will be provided with twelve free author copies to give away to friends and family. There are no restrictions on what you can do with these.
Your books will be available in print and digital forms and will be marketed to bookstores. Because we will offer discounts and the return policy, your books will have a shot at hitting the shelves in the major chains and libraries.
Otherworld Publications will also supply to you a marketing kit at no charge. The kit will include at the very minimum, 250 business cards, 20 bookmarks and one poster to get you started on your way to success. We will also provide a marketing guide full of suggestions and ideas. We will also actively market your books with every resource we have available to us. Extra materials will be available to buy or if you wish, you may buy the proofs and print them on your own.

their debut novel, Transubstantiate. This is the debut novel for
Richard Thomas as well. Cover design by JEDesign.
This is great. I have several books that fall under this category. Of course, I will be checking the submissions guidelines to be sure but I'm sure in somewhere in my portfolio is something I can submit. Thank you for giving me and many others this opportunity.
Sincerely,
Barbara Pappan
