Something About Me and My Book:: I am a marketing representative for a Christian publishing company.

Prior to working in publishing, I was a radio and television anchor and reporter, most recently as the Oklahoma State Correspondent for Metro Networks, a news service for radio and television stations which serves nearly 2,200 affiliates nationwide. Based in Oklahoma City, I covered a wide range of stories around the state and at the state capitol. I was also a frequent contributor to the Westwood One syndicated radio news programs “First Light with Dirk Vann” and “America in the Morning with Jim Bohannon”. While working for Metro Networks, I covered the state murder trial of Oklahoma City bombing co-conspirator Terry Nichols, the state court proceedings against former WorldCom CEO Bernard Ebbers, the 2003 tornado which hit Oklahoma City and the 2004 U.S. presidential race.

As a Navy journalist, I was one of the first reporters to cover the Iraqi missile attack on the USS Stark, which killed 37 American sailors. For my service in the Persian Gulf, I was awarded the Navy Expeditionary Medal.

I also worked for radio and television stations in Iowa, Wisconsin, New York and Massachusetts. I received numerous awards for my work from the Associated Press, the Radio-Television News Directors Association, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, the Iowa Broadcast News Association and the Northwest Broadcast News Association. I was invited to sit on the board of advisers for the Associated Press in Wisconsin.

I currently reside in Oklahoma with my wife of 20 years, one of my two sons and three lovable dogs.

How Do I Get On Oprah?

This is a question that, as a book marketer, I hear quite often. Authors think "if only I could get on Oprah, my book will become a bestseller!" Well, maybe. It's true that Oprah has helped sell quite a few books, but it's also true that the number of authors Oprah has helped in this manner is very small compared to the number of authors releasing books each year.
