I am a Christian romance writer with one published book, Let Me Fly, which has been named among the top 15 hot new releases from Amazon.com. I am currently pursuing a writing and speaking career. As the rejection letters continue rolling in, I am amazed that they do not upset me, discourage me, or change His will. When I receive these kind form letters, I simply sit down at my computer, open up my file, and type the date it was rejected by the publisher or agent--almost methodically! My husband (bless his heart) always is sure to tell me when one of my SASE arrives in the mail -- at first he did this with enthusiasm (only b/c he didn't realize that the SASE coming back in the mail… Continue

Looking For An Agent!

Just sending out query letters to agents for my children's book series--This is my first time to send it out to agents. It's a great series that is not only fun, but educational and I can't wait to see it in print! I am at a standstill on my second book in the Clear Creek series. Even though the book isn't based on the life of my grandparents there are some details of their lives that I would like to include--one being my grandfather's military service. So, I am waiting to see if he can give me… Continue

Website Keeps Me Busy

Whew! Just finished updating my website, AGAIN! It feels like I am constantly thinking of things to add or change and I spend so much of my time editing my webpage. Yet, it is one of the things that I enjoy. When I first started my webpage, I put a counter on it and could not wait until it hit 50! When it did, I was so excited. Then, I thought, "Wow! I'd love to see 500!" I've reached that goal and I praise God for his faithfulness b/c just knowing that someone is looking at something you have… Continue

Isn't this a great industry?

You know that even as I wonder each day what I need to do to market my book, or promote my ministry, or write the next one.... I still can't help but be in awe of what a close-knit family I feel writers are. Every website that I go to devoted to writers has the warmest people asking to be your friend, or offer advice, or listen to you whine, or encourage you to keep going! I can't thing of a single time in my life where I have met people who truly wish you success.... To all writers --- y'all… Continue

Spinning My Wheels?

I can't decide what is next? Is this writing thing for real? I keep getting small blessings from God from people who have been touched by my book, but it's not enough. Ungrateful? Probably. But, I want to wrestle with God like Jacob. I want to say, "Okay, God. I've done what you have asked now--what?! Bring this to fruition for me. Show me where all of this fits into my life. Who am I? Who will I be? Is this my career?" Yet, even when I feel like quitting, something deep within my being won't… Continue

Hello Elisa,

Great to meet you here. Don't let the publishing world overwhelm you. Just take it one day at a time. One page at a time, etc. It's what I've been doing for years. Hope you'll check out my blog on The Writing Life which has almost 700 entries--and is searchable.
