Something About Me and My Book:
ABOUT AUTHOR
Toni Sherlock is a Poet Laureate with her poem featuring in “My Heart In Company” 2007 . She is wife to talented actor/writer/film producer Adrian Sherlock and is a mother to four children. VBAC Let Your Birthing Goddess Roar is her first book. The second, a romance/drama, will soon be published on Lulu.

My Book:
VBAC Let Your Birthing Goddess Roar
This book is a collection of Vaginal Birth After Caesarean (VBAC) stories from Australian women compiled together as an inspirational resource for women who are searching for the reassurance that their bodies really can birth naturally.

Reading stories from women who have already had a vbac can only serve to empower the reader and will help bring about the confidence to trust our inner wisdom and believe in our body's own abilities.

Birthing skills being lost in favour of abdominal surgery.

30May07… Unfortunately we have many parts of our country, not so much in Canada, that have few options for a VBAC. Many parts of the country have no hospitals that will allow them (unless you show up at the last second) or if the mother decides to do an unassisted home birth. I know quite a few women who have had to relocate towards the end of their pregnancies to attempt a VBAC with someone that would assist them. It's a sad state much of our country is in.

Even in my city none of the hospitals will allow a VBAC anymore and none of the MW will do a primary (first after section) so even here where we have many birth options VBAC has pretty much been eliminated as it has in most of Florida. – Diane – America.

31 May 07... Woman say all the time that a section isn't such a big deal and it sure should be. The reality is about 10-15% of all births would still be a section. That is an internationally accepted level for true medical emergency. In the US the rate is now about 30% of all births are sections. Double what it should be. We even have areas where it exceeds 50% and a few hospitals that are even higher than that. - Diane - America.

hi Toni, GREAT work! And so worthwhile in a country where GPs are happily (and I believe excessively) advising clients that they need caesarians. Would love to profile your book on my Aussie Goddess page - see www.goddess.com.au/AussieGoddess for an idea of what to expect :-)
xx
