When trying to get word out on the street about a book signing or event, consider sending out online press releases. You'd think that people would read them and they do of course but ultimately, it makes you a searchable subject. Many allow you to put in keywords. If you're looking for a cheap way to get a website up, go to zoomshare.com . They give you several backgrounds. A promotional stratergy I use with websites in general is having one main website but individual websites that give some information and link back to the main one.
