Profile Information

Something About Me and My Book:
I retired in 1999 after forty years in the English Department of Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, where I was department chair for seven years and Wright's Distinguished Service Professor for 1995-96. In 2006, finding myself widowed, childless, 73, and depressed, I published my book, "Reinventing Myself: Memoirs of a Retired Professor."

More awards!

Both my book and my first blog, "Never too Late!" won first place awards in their respective categories in the Illinois Woman's Press Association's Mate E. Palmer Communications Contest for 2007. Both were then sent on to the parent National Womens Press Foundation's contest, and to my surprise, I just learned that both were winners at the national level.

"Never too Late!" was a first place winner in the "Web Writing, Personal" category, and my book, Reinventing Myself:…

Thanks, Patrice. Glad to hear from another Chicagoan. I'm really hooked on writing, mainly for and about seniors. I hope writing will keep me "young."

Hello, Lois. I

surely do understand about hectic summers. Even I am quite busy, but mostly with writing. I love writing for eGenerations and for my own blogs. I'm not very far along on the two books I'm considering, a tribute to my late mother and a simplified writing guide for senior non-writers. Who knows--maybe I'll finish one or the other some day.

Hi Marlys,

Of course I will be your friend! But please understand that this summer is absolutely frenetic, so do understand if I don't write back for a bit.

Very best,
