Anyone can be wealthy. You don't need to be a Bill Gates or a Warren Buffet to be wealthy. You don't even need a six-figure income to be wealthy. The book Wealth Virtues by James Ward starts with the simple definition of wealth as "the ability to acquire more money than you spend, and to save more money than you owe." Once a person has achieved that simple goal, they can decide on the abundance of wealth they desire.

Wealth Virtues describes how anyone using the Virtues of Benjamin Franklin can diminish debt and create wealth. James Ward provides knowledge and insight on how the practice of these virtues, as well as the impact of health, creativity, non-linear thinking, and investing will allow anyone to define and achieve their own financial success.

In this time of fulfilling New Year’s resolutions, using Franklin’s virtue of “Resolution” will allow any individual to create their own wealth, regardless of income level or current financial situation. The easy-to-read Wealth Virtues will provide readers with the knowledge and tools they need to achieve their financial goals if they are willing to follow the easy path set forth by the author, with help from one of America’s preeminent Founding Fathers.

Not only will readers find Wealth Virtues to be a great resource in their quest to achieve their financial goals, but they also have a chance to win a portrait of Benjamin Franklin...in a manner of speaking.

The first fifty people in 2012 who purchase Wealth Virtues (paperback or Kindle) and send a qualified entry submission are eligible for a chance to win a crisp $100 bill displaying the image of the great man, or they can opt instead for a $100 Amazon gift certificate. Non-$100 winners and entries 51 through 100 will be entered to win a Kindle Fire. To that end, I also find it necessary to see why it is more important now more than ever to live in a society where women need to have a broader view of finances, from what they already master – the household finances, to a more long range view of financial security.

In May of 2010, Federal Reserve Governor Elizabeth Duke briefed at the Financially Hers program in Philadelphia on “Challenging the Myths of Women and Money.” In her speech, she alluded to some stark facts:

Women are quite likely to be solely responsible for financial decision-making at some point in their lives. Indeed, as women age, the probability of living alone increases.

Women have lower average wages, lower lifetime earnings, and are less likely to be covered by a pension plan

Nearly two-thirds of U.S. women ages 40 to 79 have already dealt with a major financial “life crisis,” such as job loss, divorce, the death of a spouse, or serious illness

Now let’s see how one can go about changing those facts above to fiction.

The word “wealth” is almost always viewed as the ability to live like a king. In WEALTH VIRTUES, wealth is simply the goal of acquiring more money than you spend, and to save more than you owe. The path set forth in WEALTH VIRTUES towards this goal is embodied in the Cycle of Positive Wealth©, a repeatable methodology of eliminating debt and increasing your savings. What keeps you on the path is the practice of Dr. Benjamin Franklin’s Thirteen Virtues.

To help you understand why these virtues matter, James Ward provides knowledge and insight on the impact of health, creativity, non-linear thinking, and investing to allow you to achieve your goals as well as to become wealthy as defined within WEALTH VIRTUES.

Whether you measure wealth in monetary terms or as a measure of the quality and meaning of your life, WEALTH VIRTUES will change the way you live if you are willing to follow the easy path set forth by James Ward, with help from one of America’s preeminent Founding Fathers.

The focus of WEALTH VIRTUES is on each reader, and the actions required at an individual level. As more of us achieve our own wealth goals by eliminating debt and increasing our savings, society, and ultimately the nation as a whole benefits and becomes stronger in both wealth and virtue.

Literary Critique
Wealth Virtues – James Ward
Reviewed by: Deborah Young, 3/21/10

After reading the first thirty pages and perusing the remained of the document, I have the following to offer:

I find the concept of this manuscript beneficial to the economic times we are currently living in. When I begin a book, I search for something to immediately capture my attention. This book does that extremely well. After the first two paragraphs I wanted to continue reading. That is a great sign and very beneficial to sales when a copy of this book is picked up in a store and the reader instantly wants to know the purpose of the message. Capturing the reader’s attention right at the beginning ensures they will continue rather than having them search through a few pages looking for the point of the book, become bored, put it down and move on. Excellent beginning!

Another aspect of this manuscript I find intriguing is the common sense style of the author. People can pick up so many books these days which offer instant wealth and false dreams. This author is so down to earth in his explanations of building wealth. It makes sense. The strategies don’t offer paths to “miracles”, but actual methods by which you achieve comfort in living standards and retirement. That is why I believe this book is far more useful than those who offer dreams and wild imaginations, but not real methods of arriving at the position in life one desires to be in.

The next very positive feature of this book is the fact it is based on Benjamin Franklin’s Thirteen Virtues. I have to admit, since I minored in history in college, I always feel I have a fair grip on America’s history and those who shaped our country. However, while reading this information on Benjamin Franklin, I learned many things about his character and achievements that I hadn’t previously discovered. I think to intertwine his theories and teachings into a financial book of this type is nothing short of genius. Most people never would have thought of it. Very clever technique on the author’s part and it makes this book stand out as unique instead of yet another financial instructional manual.

The author’s interpretation of Franklin’s virtues and then relating them to his own experiences is very well done. It will give the reader an opportunity to look into their own lives by comparison as they move throughout the book. This is an excellent concept. The lists of questions and/or guidelines for the reader to incorporate into their own lives within each section is a wonderful addition and helps the individual reading this book for improvement and self-discovery the chance to draft their own “outline” for improvement.

Even though the general topic of financial wellbeing (and health initiatives) in this manuscript is of a serious nature, I like the way this author incorporates humor into many situations. Readers like to move through a non-fiction manuscript which holds their attention. The book should contain a storyline alongside useful, life-changing information. This book does that and more. It is constructed with a highly-skilled method of writing which makes the reader want to follow the author’s tales, yet they are learning something about improving their lives at the same time.

The charts at the end of this book are excellent in helping the reader evaluate their own financial condition. Many people, as we all know, never really see the whole picture or the trouble they could be in until it is placed before them in black and white. This helpful tool along with the quotes from Benjamin Franklin are completely appropriate. Excellent way to end the book.

At this point in a critique, I generally like to start picking apart everything I found wrong with the manuscript. In this case, that is nearly impossible to do. I liked it. I found the information relevant and entertaining. It didn’t drag on, was just long enough to contain all the required information, and kept my interest. I think this manuscript has a great potential for high-volume sales. In fact, I am going to actually read it from start to finish again for my own benefit, something I have to say I almost never do when writing a critique.

Unless you are Sarah Palin and make it to the top of the New York Times Bestleller List before your book hits the streets, you have to look at ways to become established at some level to at least gain a leg up on promoting your book.

If you are lucky enough to have a literary agent or traditional publisher working on your behalf to ensure you get noticed, then your talents as a writer have already been proven to someone in the traditional book publishing community, and the impedus is on them to take care of promotion. But what if you are like me and working on your first book?

As my book, 'Wealth Virtues' is not due out until early 2010, I started in the Spring of 2009 of establishing myself more prominantly within the social networking community, specifically under the title of the book. For example, my twitter address is http://twitter.com/WealthVirtues. I have started a discussion group on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=45900532926, and began a Ning discussion group (similar to this one) at http://wealthvirtues.ning.com. I do not expect much traffic on the latter two, but I have been building a followership on the Twitter account. And finally, have just designed and launched a website with blog at http://wealthvirtues.com.

The big question is, will all of these systems actually help? Yes I plan to do some "live" marketing after the book is published, but I am cureious to know if the veteran authors here have had successes doing the same things. In essence, has a lot of your pre-marketing paid off?

I will actually be able to measure this myself after book publication and availability. I believe the content is good, useful, readable, and understandable - but will it be acceptable for a mass market? These, I am sure, are questions every author (especially new authors) ask.

I will report back on my findings and hopefully pass on some success stories. Any hints or suggestions you may have on the sites listed above would be appreciated.
If your book is listed on Amazon.com, but you get one of those "picture unavailable" blocks in place of your cover, use the following information to get your book cover image on Amazon.com.
If you send the cover by File Transfer Protocol (FTP), the image is often posted overnight. To send a file by FTP, you will need to have software such as CuteFTP or Filezilla, a free FTP application.

On your FTP program, input your hostname as ftp.amazon.com.

Your login name is "catalog" and the password is "N3ikmJ4r". These are both case sensitive (do not include the quotes).

host name: ftp.amazon.com
user name: catalog
password: N3ikmJ4r

Once you are connected, you will need to point your local directory to that on your computer whick contains your book cover image file. Select that file, and transfer it to the upload directory on the remote Amazon FTP site. Your image should be a JPG, 72 dpi image, or a TIF. Give the .jpg file the same name as the ISBN of the book then FTP the file. The Amazon computer will match the cover file to the book's page in a day or two.

Note that Amazon wants your cover to be identified by its 10-digit (soon to 13-digits) ISBN number (no dashes needed), e.g., 6004435678.tif or 1254545332.jpg.

The four important things are to save your cover image as:
- a flat image, no borders etc
- as a tiff or jpeg file
- measuring 500 pixels on its longest side
- named exactly as its ISBN. e.g. 12345678901.jpg

Details for standards and policies for Amazon.com can be found here.

For Amazon.co.uk, see this link.

These links will provide details on uploading new content and descriptors for your book, as well as adding your book to Amazon if it is not already listed.

Guerrilla “Bookmark”-eting (or unorthadox ways to get publicity with an oversize business card)
- Never attacking the enemy’s main force preserves resources.
- It is very flexible and can be adapted to any situation, offensive or defensive.
- It is very difficult to counter with conventional methods.

Taking these strengths into consideration, you can begin to develop a crafty (and legal) means to promote your work. You may already be using the internet to apply these methods, but do not forget that printed web addresses are also a means of driving traffic to your site (see http://almanack.prwp.com/website-marketing-20050830.php to see how you can use your vehicle to help with this.)

The Traditional Bookmark

Beyond my business card, I wanted to have something easy to hand to folks that could actually be used, especially by avid book readers. In many of the trade shows I attend, many of my contest givaways are books, so naturally, I wanted an associated inexpensive give-away to hand out as well as place inside the books. So, I developed a larger sized bookmark showcasing my business in an attractive design. Both front and back are presented below.

This is a nice card to present along with a business card because of it's usability and size. There is also pleny of room to describe your book(s) as well as space for a prominitely places web address. But what else can a card of this size do? To see what I have done, please read the rest of the article at the BiblioScribe Book Blog.

A Good Print Shop is Key!

Even though I created the designs on the bookmark, I needed a service that take care of the printing, cutting, and laminating required to make my bookmark stand out.

The transition from digital media to print ready media can be a headache. The print shop may desire specs the designer is not familiar with. The designer may not understand their requirements. The file may be too large to attach to an email. There are numerous problems that can present themselves. That is why I used PrintingForLess.com to handle those details for me.Click Here to learn more about their services as you create print materials to market your book.

As a member of the Book Marketing Network, you already know that blogs are great tools for allowing you to publish your own articles with pictures and video. Most good blog software will also "ping" news servers, alerting them to changes in your blog and making updates to those websites who subscribe to blog feeds.

What are the benefits to having your own Blog under your own domain name?

The first is the freedom to publish to a site that you fully control. You control all the content, your ads (if you elect to have them), and of course, the information about and associated links to your books.

"I already use a blog on Google Blogger or the Book Marketing Network - Why do I need another?"

Keep using these other great sites, but along with the benefits stated above, you can use these "community" blogs to drive traffic to your own blog site under your own domain name.

"You use the term 'Free Blog', but then I see the price of $5.95 a month - why?"

What costs $5.95/month (actually $142.80 on a two year contract) is the web hosting. When you want to expand beyond just having a blog, you can use your existing hosting and domain name to add a traditional website while keeping the existing blog.

Please visit the Author Blog page at BiblioScribe.com to get details and instructions on your free Blog with this very low cost hosting option. Once again, if you do not already own your own domain name, the hosting package will include your domain name at no cost. if you already have a domain name, you can easily use it for your new Blog.

As you look to continue your quest for new ways to market your book at little to no financial costs, virtual social networking as well as actual human networking are the best venues. In human networks, your goal is to start a "buzz" campaign about your book in hopes that word of mouth marketing turns into sales. Virtual social networking can work the same way, but how can you measure the effect of your "word of mouse" campaign? The answer is Digg.com

In the definition at www.Wikipedia.com, "Digg is a community-based popularity website with an emphasis on technology and science articles, recently expanding to a broader range of categories such as politics and entertainment. It combines social bookmarking, blogging, and syndication with a form of non-hierarchical, democratic editorial control.

News stories and websites are submitted by users, and then promoted to the front page through a user-based ranking system. This differs from the hierarchical editorial system that many other news sites employ."

Key items to focus on are "community-based popularity", and "user-based ranking system." What this means is that depending on the topic of your article or the clever way it is written, readers can vote on your article elevating it's popularity.

You can self-nominate your articles into Digg, but you will need to register for an account. What you end up entering is the location of your published article. This may be your own website, or your article located on other submission websites. One of the things you should look for when submitting articles to any site is the ease at which readers can nominate a your article to Digg.com. Many sites have a "Digg This" button or link. for an example, see the article here at BiblioScribe, and see the link in the top right of the article area. But like any campaign, there has to be an interest in your product. To facilitate this, you may need to write your article specifically to cater to th interests of the masses.

Writing for Digg is actually less about substance and more about how you present the content. It has got to appeal to a mass audience, and it may conflict with your writing style used to write your books. In essence, you should write like a copywriter with the focus being marketing. To look at ways folks have taken advantage of Digg, enter the term "Digg Bait" into your erch engine and see what others have done.

Dont forget to take advantage of other peer-rating and page discovery sites such as StubmbleUpon.com and del.icio.us.

To sell your book. Articles and press releases are syndicated at BiblioScribe.com to newsfeeds. Each article contains your book as well as other books in your personal profile. There are also direct links to your book at Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.ca, Barnes & Noble, Powell's as well as other domestic and international book sellers. There are also links for every article you submit to Digg.com, del.icio.us, Yahoo, and soon, StumbledUpon.com.

Before posting your press release or publicity article to free posting sites, you should review the sites to make sure that they meet the following criteria:

1. Will your submitted article or press release translate into a quick sale, or at least a look at your book?

Many article submission services allow you to provide a link to your website, but look for above and beyond features. A press release is a press release is a press release. Unless there is the ability for your submission to generate sales of your book, then you have to look for other benefits such as the ability to publish links to your website.

BiblioScribe.com goes the extra mile by embedding your designated book within the article allong with links to this book and others you have authored to multiple online seller websites. See an example here.

You enter the book titles and ISBNs into your BiblioScribe.com user profile, then any time you make an submission, those books are automatically included in your article. For press releases, you can designate a new book that may not yet be in your profile, and it will be presented in the article as well.

2. Does the article submission site have a professional appearance?

This may seem shallow, but a Stanford University study on web credibility found that the number one determining factor of credibility was appearance. See the Book Marketing Network Blog article on Website Credibility.

You should still consider posting to other sites as well to create more back-links to your website, but the better a site's perceived credibility, the longer a visitor will stay on the site to read your article. If the site has a "fly-by-night", or an unprofessional appearance, consider if there is really any benefit to your book marketing plan.

3. Does the article subission service syndicate your article or press release?

A good service will generate RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds containing your article title as well as a short description of your articles content, AND submit the feed to various news syndication outlets that republish your article. Not only does Biblioscribe do this, but we also privide the ability for individual users to add your article published on BiblioScribe to social networks like Digg.com or Del.icio.us. See the link above again for examples of these links.

4. Does the marketing service require me to sign up as a member?

This can be good or bad depending on the quality of the service provider. BiblioScribe.com uses registration to allow members the option of storing their book titles as well as the related ISBNs to help us to better market your books. It is also a control method to help keep spammers from overloading servers with bogus submissions. A good service will have a privacy policy in place and posted on the site. There should also be very few required fields allowing you to determine what you want to reveal about yourself. Usually the email field is necessary to ensure you have access to your account, especially if you lose your password. The email address can be used by nefarious websites to spam you with ads or unrelated solicitations. The key is whether you are able to opt-out of receiving email from the service.

Many authors have their own websites under their own domain names to help promote their works. Those who do not may use other web-based tools such as Bookmarket.ning.com, MySpace, Face Book, or other social networking venues.

My question to authors is, "How's your traffic?" Are you getting the visitors that would be interested in your books? The whole purpose of your website is to be one of, if not your primary marketing tools.

The first thing that ANY website must instill in visitors is a sense of credibility. I find it interesting the type of things people will put into their website that actually lessen the credibility. Much of it is design related, but it is also a balancing act.

Stanford University did a study on web credibility factors and came up with criteria on design that enhances the credibility and the legitimacy of a site. They are as follows:

1. Make it easy to verify the accuracy of the information on your site.
2. Show that there's a real organization behind your site.
3. Highlight the expertise in your organization and in the content and services you provide.
4. Show that honest and trustworthy people stand behind your site.
5. Make it easy to contact you.
6. Design your site so it looks professional (or is appropriate for your purpose).
7. Make your site easy to use -- and useful.
8. Update your site's content often (at least show it's been reviewed recently).
9. Use restraint with any promotional content (e.g., ads, offers).
10. Avoid errors of all types, no matter how small they seem.

For details see http://www.webcredibility.org/guidelines/. Also look at http://ces.ca.uky.edu/extension_regions/Technology_Resources/Determining_Internet_Credibility.pdf

As authors, do the items above really pertain? All of the criteria above, which is not in any order, should be considered in your site, but may not have great weight. In number 2 for example, you want to be able to show the availability of your work, as opposed to proving that you are a real person, which is rather obvious.

Balance this against a the Stanford study that looked at what visitors actually looked for to determine credibility:

1. Design Look - 46.1% Overall
2. Information Design/Structure - 28.5% Overall
3. Information Focus - 25.1% Overall
4. Company Motive - 15.5% Overall
5. Information Usefulness - 14.8% Overall
6. Information Accuracy - 14.3% Overall
7. Name Recognition and Reputation - 14.1% Overall
8. Advertising - 13.8% Overall
9. Information Bias - 11.6% Overall
10. Writing Tone - 9.0% Overall
11. Identity of Site Operator - 8.8% Overall
12. Site Functionality - 8.6% Overall
13. Customer Service - 6.4% Overall
14. Past Experience with Site - 4.6% Overall
15. Information Clarity - 3.7% Overall
16. Performance on Test by User - 3.6% Overall
17. Readability - 3.6% Overall
18. Affiliations - 3.4% Overall

Source: http://www.consumerwebwatch.org/dynamic/web-credibility-report-evaluate.cfm

Now this is information you can use! Visual perception has a tremendous affect on whether people stay on your site, and thus, finds out more about you and more importantly, your book.

Once you have a great looking site that meets all, or at least most of the criteria above, you have to think about how you can actually get people to your site.

How can I improve my site's ranking?

According to Google:

Sites' positions in our search results are determined based on a number of factors designed to provide end-users with helpful, accurate search results. These factors are explained in more detail at http://www.google.com/technology/index.html.

In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages.

As many of you are writers by trade, the recommendations that I have to help you accomplish this are quite easy. When you write on your own personal blog, or other social networking blogs, be sure to take those same articles and apply them to other networking sites. One thing you must do is to provide links back to your main marketing website in every article. For authors, I recommend sites like ArticleManager.com, Bookmarket.ning.com, and BiblioScribe.com.

BiblioScribe.com is a bit different from the other article and press release services in that we look to publish your submission with links back to your site AND to sell your book. Articles and press releases are syndicated at BiblioScribe.com to newsfeeds. Each article or press release contains your book as well as other books in your personal profile. There are also direct links to your book at Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.ca, Barnes & Noble, Powell's as well as other domestic and international book sellers. BiblioScribe.com makes money from these companies by selling your book through our website and donating 10% of our earnings to First Book to provide new books to disadvantaged children.

I also think that there also may be some overlooked things that can be done to generate links, both human and virtual, back to your book.

Maximize exposure on Amazon.com (and .ca, .co.uk, .fr, .jp, .de)

There are programs on Amazon that may boost an author’s book sales. Check out Amazon Connect at http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=15700651. According to Amazon, AmazonConnect gives artist blogs prime placement on the site by:

Showcasing the three most recent posts by an artist on each of their product pages, directly below the Product Details.

Surfacing an artist's posts on their customers' Amazon Daily.

Posting every message an artist writes to their AmazonConnect blog.

Featuring a link to the artist's profile page in a comprehensive AmazonConnect Directory (www.amazon.com/amazonconnect).

Dont forget the international market and look for the same features on Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.ca as well as the French and German couterparts, especially if you sprechen Sie die Lingua Franca.

Form Human Networks

If you are reading this, you already realize the effect from virtual social networks. But including the human element is a great way to get things moving. Most of my business is now from word of mouth because I put as much work into the "grip and grin" as I do with the "Internet spin".

Contact authors and business owners and inquire about partnership opportunities. Don't just stop at swapping links to each other’s websites, look for opportunities to work together on speaking events at local libraries and schools. It certainly depends upon the nature of your book, but a children's book author should work closely with the local libraries and schools to set up book-reading events or discussions. If you are a business book author, consider becoming involved in local Chamber of commerce memberships and events. As an author, you will be recognized as an "expert". Take advantage of the buzz.

Here's an idea - write your Congressman/Congresswoman. OK, sounds a bit bland, but those folks are tired of hearing the complaints of their constituents (I know, I live near D.C.), so give them something positive. Send your representatives your book for free. If the value is under $25, they don't have to claim it as an excessive gift or donation to the campaign. You can voice your appreciation for their hard work (even if they are from the other party), and provide them with the opportunity to understand the talents of one of the voters. Hey if they (or one of their staff) finds it interesting, you don't know where it could lead.

There is an author that lives only a few miles from me in the Chesapeake Bay region of Maryland. He recounted in some of his correspondence that one day he received a call from a woman who got a copy of his book from a local reporter, and was asked to deliver it to a mutual aquaintence who happened to be an ambassador. This woman read the book and ended up liking it so much that she bought 27 copies, one of which ended up under the Christmas tree at the White House. President Regan was reported to have read a third of the book, The Hunt For Red October, that Christmas Day and liked it. The next thing to happen was that Tom Clancy was invited to lunch at the White House. You never know who knows who, so keep expanding that human network.

"Driving" Your Ad

This is just too easy, but so many folks overlook this obvious form of advertizing. If your car has a big back window, use it as ad space. I do, and yes, I can still see out of it. Have you ever seen back car windows with logos, stickers, tacky memorials, and other useless junk? Why advertize for someone else when you can advertise for yourself. Keep it simple - just use a title and a catchy domain name. If your current domain name is long, buy an alias domain name and forward it to your main one. Use the smaller, easier to remember ad on the car. A personal example can be found on my Almanack article titled Website Marketing located at http://almanack.prwp.com/website-marketing-20050830.php

Publish on the "Grid"

Participate in Forums and Message Boards is so obvoius as you are doing it right now. But don't forget those boards that are more in line with the topic of your book, not just the one's for authors. Publishing Articles is a very popular way to get publicity, but make sure that the service allows links back to your website.

BiblioScribe goes the extra mile on articles and press releases for our members as we look to present all the authors recent books on every article. That is controlled by the author placing those books in their BiblioScribe member profile, so every time they submit, the books will be there with links to various online booksellers. Click here for an example.

Also look for article and press release services where people can find all your articles with a "More from this Author" link.

Look at Your Own Email List and Use Other's Spam to Your Advantage

Everyone has a big personal email list. Use it to announce your book. Take advantage of the spam email you get from your crazy auntie who passes on Internet myths and urban ledgends from the early 80s. respond to her entire email list which includes you and everyone on HER email list about your book. Maybe you can relate the subject of her spammail to the subject of your book.

Cause-Based Marketing

Consider partnering with a literacy campaign or cause related to your book to which you will donate a portion of the proceeds. Not only does this set a great example to inspire others to help with your cause, but is also a means of putting you and your book in a positive light. Our personal cause is First Book.

Free Reviews

A couple of years ago I was asked in an email from Patricia Wall asking if I would review her Book "Child Out of Place". I told her that I would and would post the review/report on my Almanack page. Why did I do it? Because she asked. Don't be afraid to ask people in any media outlet if they will do this for you. The worst they can say is "no." You can also encourage them to post reviews on Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

Consider writing a description of your book in Wikipedia.com. I would caution that you should not make this article a sales pitch, but describe the book as a book report. You can still have links to your author website.

Fish Oil

Ok, you are thinking that this article was going well until you got to this part. A few years back, I had a triglyceride level of 650 (normal is 150). To avoid something as inconvenient as dying, I took fish oil as part of a diet that also eliminated raw sugars. In two weeks, the triglyceride count was down to 150, lost 10 pounds and found something quite unexpected. My imagination and creativity was increasing. My designs were flowing more freely from my head to my hand. My writing improved. Is there any basis in fact for this phenomina?

There is, but what is the benefit to you as an author? Part of looking at new ways to market yourself and your book involved creative thinking. I am no doctor, but there are some examples I found after my experience that confirmed what I felt:

The Omega wave - From the BBC

Feed Your Ideas - Brain Food

Anyway, even though Omega-3 fatty acids are beneficial to overall health, take advantage of the increased concentration, focus, and creativity that can possibly be stimulated.
