Grenier has been working all this time on the book editing and going over artwork with illustrator Kevin Collier. As they come to the end of the KickStarter campaign launched to raise the funds to get the 2nd book printed, it has motivated them to make it even better.

This week on Monday June 9, 2014 our guest is Dorothy Smaniotto, whose son Alex created and illustrated the Buhdeedoo. Alex is a young man with Asperger's Syndrome. He was diagnosed at the age of 6, but has never let that diagnosis slow him down. As Alex puts it, "I embrace my Asperger's rather than look at it as a disability."

Dorothy is the author of her own book called "The Burgundy Journey: Using Hope, Humor & Faith To Conquer Adversity--No Matter What." The book tells the story of her struggles with a rare, incurable autoimmune disease that has caused numerous health issues. It also details how Alex was physically attacked by classroom aides in his previous public school and the emotional scars left with him.

For more information, visit
http://www.facebook.com/dorothy.smaniotto
https://www.createspace.com/4626797
Books are also available through the author.

Learn more about our network at http://worldofinknetwork.com
Find great books and articles on our blog or follow us on our Facebook Fanpage!

Our guests are:

Scott Rhoades has enjoyed writing since he was about five years old, when he used to make his own books by tracing pictures and making up stories to go with them. He especially enjoys writing stories set in the Middle Ages. He was a technical writer for Novell, Inc. from 1992 to 2007, after starting his career at Atari in 1988. He currently runs his own company, Write Field Documentation Services, LLC. He is also on the Board of Directors of The Tiferet Center, a center for Jewish education, ritual, and community service based in Vermont.

Julie Daines spent eighteen months in London where she studied and fell in love with English Literature, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and the fellow who ran the kebab store around the corner. After editing for other authors, she decided to take up writing again--this time in the young adult genre.
Whistle Beans is the second book in the SugarPaw Adventure series from Award-winning Author VS Grenier. The first book, Babysitting SugarPaw is a Silver Mom's Choice and 2011 Silver Quill Award-winner.

The artwork found inside the series is done by Illustrator and Animator Kevin Scott Collier.

BEHIND THE STORY -
The concepts for the books in the SugarPaw Adventure series are from Author VS Grenier's personal life.
When Grenier was little, she couldn't whistle. A family friend, Charlie Baker, was one of the best whistlers and she wanted to have a strong whistle like his. Grenier practiced everyday...but never got much out beyond the WHOOSHING sound of air passing her lips.

It was the holidays when Charlie shared his secret to a strong whistle with her over a big Christmas Dinner at her family's house. A memory VS Grenier cherishes to this day!

I decided it was time to take my outline and short scene I did for a writing workshop and finally make it into the novel I've talked about for many years. What makes this novel so special to me isn't the fact I'm doing it for NaNo, but the fact it is based on true events from my junior year of high school. The main character is a mirror of myself in that year. The emotions I felt when I lost my best friend have never wholly been shared. I have rarely (and very lightly) talked about this event to anyone. I have never faced down this time in my life and I hope during this process I finally heal completely.

A few words to my dear friend:

David W. Smith and I were both interviewed by the Spectrum about the St. George Book Festival kicking off October 14th and running to October 19th. We are both very excited about the events we have worked hard to put together for our schools and community, not to mention the hard work from others like Lin floyd (youth poetry contest), Shawna Williams (author visits in schools), and many others.

We invite those who live in, near or around the area to join us. Both as authors and book lovers. We have something for everyone and deadlines have been extended to October 16th for RSVPs to the charity dinner and getting a booth for the Book Expo.

Jon Sebba, 2013 Utah Poet of the Year Recipient, was born in South Africa. As a student in Jerusalem, he worked cataloging 19th Century medical journals, as well as at the Hydrology Institute. He also worked as a laborer in the construction of Jerusalem apartment buildings and of evaporation lagoons at the Dead Sea (1400 feet below sea level) with summer temperatures topping 115°F.

When the 1967 Arab-Israeli Six Day War began, he was married with one child. As a reservist, he was mobilized to fight in Jerusalem. Among the things he learned from that experience are: death in war is random; wars should definitely be avoided; and given the choice, few soldiers would ever start one.

In 1968, Jon immigrated to the US to study civil engineering, arriving the day before Rev. Martin Luther King was assassinated. En route, he worked as a lorry driver in London for four months. He has lived and worked as an engineer in six states, divorced and remarried. He now lives in Murray, Utah, with his wife and muse, Chris. Together they have four children scattered across the US. Jon has been writing poetry since the 1970’s. In early 2013, he had a play produced at the Gallery Theater in Ogden.

David W. Smith, perhaps it is because his name is about as common as door knobs and paperclips that he has always tried to lead as much of an unusual life as he could. Not that David has tried a lot of unusual things; he hasn’t! A lot of David's personality and abilities dealing with people came from six years as a “Cast Member” at Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom. At the same time he played tennis for California State University, Fullerton.

Writing for David started with short stories, written for no one and without any goal of publishing anything. But it initiated a strong desire to write more. Since tennis was such a big part of his life, and because he had such extensive experience teaching beginners to world-ranked players, David's first book attempt was in 2004, TENNIS MASTERY. The book has since been reprinted and has maintained its status as one of the top three best-selling tennis books in the country.

He later co-wrote the first of five books with Nancy Rodrigue, a Disney historian and aficionado. She was also a writer. In 2009, HIDDEN MICKEY: Sometimes Dead Men DO Tell Tales was born! The Hidden Mickey series has become the top-selling books at the Disneyland Resort as well as being one of the top-selling books at the LA Times Book Festival in 2011. The last of the series, HIDDEN MICKEY 5: Chasing New Frontiers, again a treasure hunt of sorts, is based on David's reality of working at Disneyland.

Traci McDonald has been a writer since she figured out how to make words on a page. Traci wrote for English classes like most people, but she wrote everything else in between. Traci won minor competitions with short stories, poetry and lyrics before becoming visually impaired. That is just a political correct way of saying Traci McDonald is blind. Traci lost her eyesight 17 years ago, but it never stopped her from living life and following her dreams. She has struggled with her health and raising kids, prior to the publication of her first novel. Traci is very excited to see her dream in life coming true. She lives in a small cozy town in the Mojave Desert, less than 150 miles from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Traci McDonald has four other books in the process of becoming published and a whole list of others she plans to write.

C. Michelle Jefferies practically grew up in a library. She spent her early years learning to love reading at her mother’s side. In high school, she met another writer who inspired her to write a full-length novel instead of just short stories. Michelle finished that 189 page handwritten novel the summer of her junior year.

When her children were old enough for her to spend a few hours at the computer without them burning the house down she returned to writing and hasn't stopped since. She can often be found writing or editing with a child in her arms or under her feet. With a passion for secret agents and all things Asian, she writes futuristic thrillers and urban fantasies about bad boys turned good. She also enjoys beating herself up in Karate class as she works toward her black belt in Tang Soo Do.

Hadiyah Joan Carlyle grew up in a Jewish immigrant neighborhood in New Jersey, became active in the Civil Right movement of the sixties and migrated to San Francisco’s colorful Haight-Ashbury to be part of the counter-culture there. In the seventies, she was the first and only female shipyard welder in Bellingham, Washington, north of Seattle.

In the eighties, Hadiyah returned to the East coast to earn her MSW at Rutgers University. In 2003, she completed the certificate program in Memoir Writing through the University of Washington Extension. She is an active member of Seattle’s thriving community of writers.

This week our guest will debut author L.R.W. Lee, who is touring her middle grade fantasy adventure, Andy Smithson: Blast of the Dragon’s Fury (Book 1) throughout May 2013.

Since the age of eight, L.R.W. Lee knew she wanted to write a book. Fortunately or unfortunately, she required of herself that she have something significant to say; she sought to contribute to others in a way that could change their lives. Because a degree in Accounting at Cedarville University, as well as work in public and corporate accounting, did not provide riveting fodder for a best seller, she waited. Upon selling her business in early 2012, she had time to write and, more importantly, something significant to share.

Virginia S Grenier will be chatting with debut author Susanne Jacoby Hale, a former drop-out prevention teacher from New York and author of Shades of Gray. Jacoby Hale earned a master's degree from New York University in education and creative writing. Although, when she began teaching in the real ACE program, depicted in Shades of Gray, she had no idea that it would change her life forever. Having been out of the classroom for a few years, Jacoby Hale still felt the need to make a difference in the lives of students.

Susanne Jacoby Hale felt the need to tell the story of a dedicated teacher. She believes good teachers are often unappreciated, while students’ needs are frequently misconstrued. Sometimes the only thing missing in today’s classrooms is compassion. Her book is the fictional account of a new teacher's experience with one of NYC's most notoriously turbulent schools, while attempting to maintain control over her life outside the classroom.

Susanne Jacoby Hale has been featured on NBC, USA Today, and ABC. More information about the book: Shades of Gray by Susanne Jacoby Hale at http://SusanneJacobyHale.com/
