For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers
Happy Monday to all and thanks for checking in. We have a monster week ahead of us and we are going to start the week off with a bang, the works of CQ Scafidi. Today I am going to do two things: I am going to revisit a post I had popped in back in the day when I first started this blog, and then a Q&A that is certified fresh off the virtual press from this morning. CQ will be our guest today on our blogtalk radio show, The G-ZONE, @ 5pm EST. Check it out, call in; be part of the…

The Choice Between Living Hell or Harmony by T.F. Hodge
If you're going through hell, keep going. ~Winston Churchill
I am almost certain Mr. Churchill did not intend for people to become accustomed to an enduring life of hell. My understanding, or perception, is if one…

As a veterinarian I’m constantly surprised by the resilience of the feline species. This week alone a 17 year old cat with kidney failure successfully underwent dental attention, a stray cat lost a leg but was eating the same night and a kitten fell 40 feet with barely a scratch to show for it! Its no wonder cats have a reputation for having nine lives - which set me wondering where the saying originated.
Research into this fable led me to ancient Egypt. The ancient Egyptians believed…

This post is from my website blog. I felt it should be shared here as well.
Book Reviews are said to be the key to selling books. The good ones make an author jump for joy while the bad ones can make an author cringe. Cringing leads to self doubt. They say the worst critic of our work is ourselves.
So what to do about Book Reviews. It is real easy to swallow the ones that rave about one's book. But what do you do about the ones that tell everyone - don't buy this…

Part two of our posts today involves chapter two from The Breaker Series. Floyd Buck Periwinkle is the author of this series, sorry he has three names. I was considering cutting one out to stay with the theme of two but he might take offense and eliminate me. I would prefer to avoid that. Just a reminder: Tomorrow is Self–Published Sunday, and on Monday we have CQ Scafidi as our guest on The G-Zone blogtalk radio. CQ is the award winning author of Time Couriers and also he has begun the new…

Morrie Schwartz (1916 -1995), a renowned professor of Sociology who grew up in the Jewish tenements in New York City said:
“So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives…

Hello and welcome to another edition of Digital short Saturday. Today I am going to have two posts and they both deal with stories that are part of a series. I like the series most of all because I enjoy the character development and the wanting more part of it. Business first though today: Laurie Bowler will be our guest on our blogtalk show The G-ZONE on Thursday Feb. 24th at 8am EST. Yes, for those of us that live in the USA I have 8am written there, Breakfast with Laurie. She…

I don't know about you guys, but do you sometimes feel like the world's biggest twerp when you're doing appearances at book stores? By this I mean, do you just sit there smiling pleasantly, as people pass you by and you're feeling like a wallflower at the school dance? I was in a book store today, plugging copies of my latest novel. I had to sit and smile nicely as people went by, and it took me back to my days in high school, waiting for someone to ask me to dance. In my mind, I was…

In my book "Sports Talk Radio Is A Waste Of Time (And so is This Book)" I wrote a chapter called "Know Your History." In it, I cover how many people who follow sports don't know the history of it as they should. And many people who chronicle it do not as well. Today, on my website Sportscommonsense.com I write on my blog "The Games We Play" once again how history has not been written correctly. My nephew gave me the idea to write about the first African-American NASCAR racer whom…
