Book Signing Tips

I notice others put a link in instead of writing it all out to make the entry shorter, so I put the tips that came from authors all over on book signings. You'll find them at www.shirleydicks.net/signingtips.htm I hope they help....when ever someone sends me something to ad to it, I ad so maybe some of them will seem like the same tip....but I think it's a good listing. Think of Professional Design As An Investment For Your Company

Graphic Design is not 'playing'. Graphic Design is a business tool that exists to enhance communication of ideas, messages and thoughts. A professional design firm knows the importance of turning clients into partners in the process and show them how to see design as an investment for their long-term business goals. Design firms need to think more like consultants and less like Wal-mart: "Attention All Customers: book cover designs can be found in isle 3, Websites found in isle 8...… Continue

Jesus had nothing to do with Christianity

Then the Lord saith: “You have a Hispanic body this time because no other culture names their kids “Jesus.” If you had a white body and entered into a Christian family and were named Jesus, you would have a lot of unnecessary problems growing up. Nope, Jesus wouldn’t work these days for a white guy.”…

First fiction about Sherpas of Nepal

Beyond the Summit is the first fiction about the Sherpas of Nepal .I used to lead treks to the Everest Base camp and know their culture well. The book has received 5 star reviews from everyone. All who read it say it's a movie waiting to be made because of the powerful love story between an American journalist and Sherpa guide, the exotic setting, the climbing scenes told through the eyes of the porters.

How do i bring this to the anttention fo anyone in the movie industry?

The Choice Is Yours

I haven't figured out this site yet, but working on it. I don't know if the blogs are to put about our books, or to write about what we're doing, or are interested in. At any rate, one of my books is called The Choice Is Yours which is aimed at teens about violence and getting into trouble.

I also went up on Tennessee's death row and did a video and DVD with five of the guys who came out to talk to the kids about how they found themselves up on the row.…

trailer for story and poetry collection

John Kremer's newsletter introduced me to the book trailer concept. I worked closely with an excellent designer in NYC called SKW Graphics to create this Flash trailer for my book Something Familiar. I am very pleased with the product, housed at mightykat.net. (I'm trying to post it to the video section.) Make sure your sound is on. Feedback welcome.…

Authors4charity was started back in 93 and this year we're adding a promotions and publishing company for it's members. We're trying to add new things this year as we've not done much promotions in the past years. Just floating along doing our signings together but we decided that this year we'd try to get out to the public and to grow along with adding new things to our organization. What's The Big Deal About Design Anyway?

Design = Perception = Communication.

Graphic Design: a combination of words, pictures and concepts

creating visual communication.

THE WORD DESIGN is both a verb and a noun. Thus design is both an

action and a product. Designing is a process organizing the various

aspects of a work—line, space, light and color, texture, pattern,

time and motion—creating a unified communication product. One

can recognize in the finished process of its… Continue

Do any of you Twitter?

I just discovered an interesting website with lots of activity. It's called Twitter.com, and it is designed to keep friends and other interested parties informed about what you are doing -- especially via cell phone text messages (which you can access either via the website, IM, or your cell phone.

I'm going to use it to let people who become my followers or friends (two categories in Twitter) -- to let them know whenever I update a page on my website. As I Twitter, the…

There was a soft beep on Paulette’s line, indicating that another call was waiting. “Hold on a minute.” Paulette pressed the flash button after scanning the LCD to identify the waiting caller.
“Hey, baby,” she purred after switching calls.
“Do you miss me?”

“Of course I do,” he answered.…
