Strephon Hello! My Writer's Story

Hello Everybody!

I hope this new joining here works out. Looks like a well-formed site in design with a lot of good author-people on it.

The web is so big now in 2008 I don't easily know where to put my ore.

I'm here because I believe that information sharing is moving to the World Wide Web.

I have just written about this and Web I, II, III.

I am studying web marketing with all the low cost or free reports and services from the Internet… Continue

Patent Medicines: 19th Century America

The labels carried wild promises but the ingredients were of mysterious origin. Patent medicines were ubiquitous in the 1800s—partly because medical science had made advances and partly because the search for health exceeded medical science’s capabilities.

These elixirs, creams, and compresses were made from any number of… Continue

Ouch! Just can't fit through that door.

Have you ever been in Tulsa’s airport? Great place, but they have the narrowest doorways! This past weekend my dear friend and I visited that area to work on an exciting ministry. And fitting with her caring nature, she made sure she guided me through all doorways, hallways, and elevators - being careful to avoid obstacles in my path. But when entering elevators with our bags and suitcases on wheels, and with me holding on her arm, the squeeze was tricky, sometimes painful, and often… Continue

Looking for blog hosts for nonfiction Mexican history book

Hi everyone...I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in hosting one of my authors who wrote a nonfiction Mexican history book? He tours in April and what I am looking for specifically are bloggers who are familiar with the Mexican heritage or, rather, who blog about their Mexican heritage on a frequent basis. If you are one of those bloggers, a copy of his book will be sent to you in exchange for an interview, guest post or review. You can contact me at thewriterslife@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Hello Everyone!

And Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I hope you, your family and friends are enjoying a wonderful day of celebration and laughter together! I know my family and I will be enjoying the day with games, music and candy for the little ones . . . and there’s always plenty of festive dancing. This really is my favorite day of the year.

Yesterday I spent the day watching Irish claddagh dance exhibitions. It was exhilarating! Girls from ages 4-18 were having the time of… Continue

Brekleby Press: A New Sci-fi Novel of Time and Truth

Brekleby Press: A New Sci-fi Novel of Time and Truth

In true sci-fi fashion, The Brekleby Press (ISBN: 978-0980107302 ) asks the questions how much do we really know about our past and do we really want to know the truth? Deborah Thomas creates a world where the reporters are no longer limited by time and space; instead, they become guardians of the past, who are not only able to observe history as it happens, but to retrieve… Continue

Namely, that Ms. Taylor is among the most effective, dynamic, and beloved human resources on the planet. In All About Love (Urban Books) a rich of harvest of writings from… Continue

A Pleasant Surprise

A Pleasant Surprise

Driving home from one of my library talks tonight it occurred to me

that it was almost one year ago that I started doing signings and

events. So by now I should have a pretty good idea of what to

expect, right? Nope.

I've probably done at least 20 of these library talks and they

usually run around 8-10 people and last between an hour and an hour

and a half, consisting of a talk and then Q & A.

The usual 'remuneration'… Continue

A ROLLER COASTER RIDE

UP AND DOWN, UP AND DOWN

IT'S THE PULL OF GRAVITY, ISN'T IT?

YOU'RE DOWN LONGER THAN YOU'RE UP

ISAAC SAID IT BEST

IT'S EASIER GOING UP

SLOW, STEADY

BUT COMING DOWN IS FRIGHTFUL

FAST, QUICK

NOT TIME TO PREPARE

UP AND DOWN, UP AND DOWN

THE UNSTEADINESS IS MAKING YOU SICK

YOU'RE SCREAMING

IT'S UNCOMFORTABLE

YOU WANNA GET OFF!

BUT YOU CAN'T (YOU… Continue

Adams Point In Print

Hi, Everyone!

At last, the print edition of the third book in the Legacy Series, Adams Point, has been released and is up on Amazon.com. The publisher is Write Words, Inc., imprint Cambridge Books. The following is a brief look into the novel:

The strange spirits who, without rhyme or reason, or so much as a 'by your leave', had suddenly inhabited The House On The Bluff and caused a multitude of problems. It was not only that people were disappearing, which heightened… Continue

Give me that recipe!

Did you ever taste something so delicious that after you licked the last bite off the spoon, or gulped the last wonderful sip, the first thing out of your mouth is: "I have to have that recipe!"

Ladies in my Sunday school class volleyed comments about the yummy food and the scrumptious coffee punch they served the day before at a women’s tea. The lady who prepared it proudly gave the recipe while the rest of the group jotted each detail.

"Sixty spoons of coffee!" chimed… Continue

Can't sing? Blame your parents.

Listen up American Idol wannabes: It’s not Simon Cowell’s fault. It’s in your genes.

Genetic researchers in the U.S. recently suggested that one gene may hold the key to one’s ability to have perfect pitch – a trait found in only 1 in 10,000 people.

A study including 2,200 participants done at the University of California, San Francisco, found that people with perfect pitch can instantly pick out the pure tones with ease.(Nature) And those with the ability most often had… Continue
