"Burning Embers" Book Launch Party

“Burning Embers” was officially launched with a signing and reading party.

I read bunches of stories, including “Dunkin’ the Barbarian” from the book, and a brand new story called “Ciao Baby”.

Thanks to chef Leslie Owens for providing a fine, fine dinner for the audience, mistress Kathy for the mixed drinks (sad to say I didn’t get one because I had to work), and to everyone who came to listen to stories and get a book.

After the reading I signed books, and I… Continue

Reflecting on the Cruelest Months

By Angeline Bandon-Bibum

"April is the cruellest month,"[1] wrote T.S. Eliot in his poem, The Waste Land. This line seemed to ring true in April of 1994. On April 6, 1994, a cruel course of events would begin in Rwanda. A planned and organized massacre was executed by people across all classes from the poor subsistence farmer, to the middle class schoolmaster, local administrators, and other government officials. There have been genocides throughout human history, in continents all… Continue

Trying out Createspace

I just published a small, light, humor book with Createspace on Amazon. It was easy to do and kind of fun. The book is aimed at people who want to lift the spirits of a friend who has lost a job and is called 50 Ways to Take the "Down" Out of Downsized. You can see it listed at

Believe It!

Your thoughts about yourself determine your reality. Action follows thoughts. So If you think you're klutzy or a loser or sick, then that's just what you'll become. In fact, you'll look for evidence to support your negative beliefs about yourself and your negative self-talk will become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Here's the good news. Change your thoughts about yourself and your reality will change. What would happen if you put the phrase "in the past" in front of your… Continue

The Squealing Wheel Gets the Grease

This isn't solely about the VA Book Festival where I met with Karen and Katie Saturday. I'm about to give you a number and I want you to remember that number, because I will get back to it in just a tad. Ready? It's the number 8.

I met with Karen at 7:30 am at the Omni Hotel. We helped Karen and Katie set up the two Echelon stands, and then went to join my son, his girlfriend and Super Seth for Breakfast. When I returned, Karen sat at a table that was covered with Echelon books. No… Continue

Countdown to Gotham Short Story Class

Well gang, it's only going to be another few weeks before I start my short story writing class with Gotham Writers in Manhattan. As you may notice in my late Feb/early March blog posts, I've written a 2000 word short story as a way to prepare for the class.

Lately I've had a lot of ideas floating around and I've begun writing a play. My intention with any of these ideas I'm getting lately is to make them brief, get them down on paper and move on to the next idea. All of this activity… Continue
