Why am I interested? I write Amish fiction, and I’m on the list. After I self published I’ve always been on the lookout for free websites to promote my books. It was my worry that I’d write a book that doesn’t sell after I hired a firm to promote for me. What works for me might not be the way most authors publish and sell their book. I’ve put my books in different author sites and blog posts, thinking that might take longer than paid advertising, but I wouldn’t lose money. Besides, I can…

A Fashion for Bad Language
I don’t know about you, but I find women swearing somehow much more offensive than men. Perhaps it’s because women are the gentler sex and discouraged from testosterone driven competitiveness, but surprisingly, in the 18th Century it seems bad language was tolerated from women.

It is hump day, Wednesday, for those of us not keeping count. The end of the week for me is just 5 short days away. Wait, then a new week starts again. I need a vacation! Our main character in the novel tried that and her work followed her. Does that mean when I get to take a few days off, some novels, digital short stories and graphic novels are going to follow me? I hope so! The beach wouldn’t be the same without them. Fortunately when work follows me on vacation, I love it and get to…

Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly things]–these do not come…

Gripping, heart wrenching, poignant, fast paced, tender, descriptive … these are all adjectives that aptly describe Catharine West’s debut novel Yesterday’s Tomorrow. It’s the story of Kristin Taylor, a young reporter out to prove herself by going into the field during the Vietnam War. In the midst of the horror and carnage she finds out what it means to be a friend, a lover, a Christian - a human being. This unfortunate era in US history is well researched yet never pedantic.…

It is Monday and as such I am staring a seriously long and fun week ahead. The posting schedule I have set up for this week and next is chock full of great novels, digital shorts, self-published authors and graphic novels. The Scoop is counting down to its 500th post in just about a year in business. We are, to say the least, very proud of this achievement. I want to thank all the readers, followers, social network friends, authors & bloggers that have read our posts as well…

I've created a new blog. It's called alterkockerthoughts.blogspot.com.
Posted 2 blogs so far. Except for the fact that they are filled with typos (I didn't notice them unfortunately) I hope you will take the time to read them.
I'm getting ready for blog #3 which will be coming quite soon. I hope.
